Panto is just for Christmas? Ooh no its not! A treat for all the family this Easter at the Spotlight

Published:

Puss is boots will really put a spring in your step this Easter time.

"As Colin is left facing a future on the streets of Hoddesdonia, he receives news of his inheritance, his father’s old tabby cat, affectionately known as ‘Puss’.

How will Colin ever win the heart of Princess Alice? Will Queen Doris believe that Colin is ‘the one’ for her daughter? Will Boris the Ogre’s henchman scupper Puss’s plans for his master?" ...

You'll have to come along to Puss in Boots at The Spotlight find out!

Pantos - traditionally associated with Christmas right ? But why should Christmas have all the fun!? In recent years we've seen many local theatres pop up with Easter Pantos and its a trend we are here for to be honest, I am a huge advocate for the arts and love any excuse to take my little ones to watch some live theatre.

We were kindly invited along to The Spotlight on 30th March to see Puss in Boots and were delighted to accept as we love The Spotlight!

We arrived at The Spotlight to beautiful sunshine, something that was not forecast, so we grabbed a drink in their bar and took a stroll in the garden (yep The Spotlight has the most beautiful garden!) they also serve yummy pizzas!! So do allow some time to check out their food and drink offerings and take a stroll in the garden prior to curtain up!

A talented cast and creative team....

In recent years the team at The Spotlight have really upped their game with their pantomime offerings taking on an in-house production role . The dream team once again collaborated as Puss in Boots was written by the very talented Marc Day with original Music by Chris Burgess the same team behind Cinderella at Christmas .

Holly Sexton- who also played Cinderella at the spotlights Christmas production is just the most perfect princess! In my review of Cinderella at Christmas I said that Holly looked like a real life princess and had a voice I could listen to all day and the same still stands. She is the epitome of every little girl or boys vision of a princess with the voice of an angel, she really shines in her role as Princess Alice.

Another returnee to the stage at the spotlight is Michael McGeough, who played Buttons at Christmas and is back as Colin in Puss in boots, and let me tell you something, Michael has got a set of pipes on him! His voice was absolutely show stopping as well as being an all round engaging entertainer.

Dylan Jacobs was another very welcome returnee, once one half of the ugly sisters but now back as a queen in his own right! Hilarious and talented , he really shone as Queen Doris.

Shelby Speed was a fresh face to don the Spotlight stage as she took on the role of Puss! We thought she was captivating and hope we see her in future productions.

And not forgetting Hildegard the Henchwoman played by Emma Clare who did a fab job playing the villian that we all love to hate!

Special mention to the very talented young ensemble cast too! Its always so wonderful to see young talent flourish, we had some of your parents sitting near us and they were so proud of you!

Puss in boots has joy by the bucket full (or should we say boot-full!) and is a great opportunity to bring the family together this Easter with a show that will entertain across the generations with a really fun spin on a traditional tale.

My boys age 10 and 6 had a wonderful and its rare to find something that appeals to both their ages. We danced, we sang along, booed and cheered and left full of the joys of Puss!

Tickets are available directly from The Spotlights website.

Prices start from £16 with a family discount for 4 tickets. The show is suitable for ages 2 plus and is approximately 90 minutes long including an interval.

Grab your tickets whilst you can.

Thank you for the Invite !
