If you're looking for somewhere to enjoy a family meal with a little something for everyone, we recently visited Ovee to see what was on the menu.
We started with poppadoms and a selection of chutneys while deciding what to order. My husband opted for a classic Cobra beer, which is always a good pairing with Indian food, while our little one enjoyed a milder version of the salmon tikka alongside some Bombay aloo.
For starters, we went for the Ovee mixed platter, which gave us a chance to try a little bit of everything. There was a selection of chicken tikka, lamb tikka, tandoori king prawn, seek kebab. We also had some chilli paneer and machli pakora.

For mains, we ordered the salmon shashlik and Ovee's Chef recommended Shorisha lamb curry, accompanied by garlic and coriander naan and rice. The combination of dishes made for a lovely spread, with plenty to share around the table.
We finished with a malai kulfi, served in a beautiful ceramic dish – a lovely way to round off the meal. And one thoughtful little touch we appreciated? There's no need to worry about getting messy while enjoying your food, as warm towels are brought out at the end.

We also had the opportunity to catch up with owner Jay, who shared the inspiration behind the restaurant's name. Ovee means 'heritage' in Hindi, reflecting its connection to Indian culture and culinary traditions. We love discovering the stories and inspiration behind our local businesses!
Whether you're planning a meal out with friends, a date night or a family dinner, Ovee is worth adding to your local dining list.
