Looking for a lovely way to embrace autumn with the family? We headed to Pop Up Farm’s Pumpkin & Squash Festival for a cosy day of seasonal fun, delicious treats and plenty of inspiration to bring home!
Autumn fun for little ones
We got stuck into the activities, including a game of tossing beanbags at the targets — a simple bit of fun that kept us entertained while soaking up the autumn atmosphere.
There were plenty of tempting seasonal treats too, and we couldn't resist stopping for a hot chocolate with all the trimmings — whipped cream, marshmallows and a chocolate Flake. The perfect autumn warmer!. We were also very tempted by the ceramic pumpkin painting, which looked like a lovely way to get creative and make a little autumn keepsake.

Pumpkin picking (and a little squash shopping!)
Of course, no visit would be complete without taking home some seasonal goodies! We secured a Polar Beach squash and a couple of Munchkin pumpkins, ready to bring a little autumn magic into our kitchen.
We also had a browse through the farm’s recipe folder, which was full of inspiration for what to cook with our finds. One recipe immediately caught our eye: porcini & pumpkin soup.

From farm to table
Back at home, we put our pumpkin and squash to good use by making the porcini pumpkin soup we’d spotted in the farm’s recipe folder. I took on the very important role of sous chef while my husband led the cooking, and we enjoyed the delicious, warming results for lunch.
There’s something lovely about choosing seasonal produce and then cooking with it at home, especially when you’ve discovered the recipe during your day out!
Our verdict
With seasonal activities, hot chocolate with all the trims, tempting crafts and plenty of pumpkins and squash to take home, Pop Up Farm’s Pumpkin & Squash Festival made for the perfect cosy autumn day.
