Tried & Tested: Bread Ahead Comes to Harpenden

Published:

There’s a new bakery in town! Bread Ahead has arrived in Harpenden, bringing its much-loved doughnuts and freshly brewed coffee to the high street.

We popped in on its first official day and treated ourselves to a jam doughnut, a chocolate doughnut and coffees. It was a lovely excuse to pause for a coffee break and see what the new arrival has to offer.

Meet the Owner-Operator

We also had the chance to chat with Emese Dombai Szucs, the long-standing Head Chef at Bread Ahead Wembley, who is now taking the lead as owner-operator of the new Harpenden location.

It was lovely to meet Emese and hear a little about the plans for the bakery. And there’s more to come: the upstairs floor is planned to be transformed into workshop space, opening up the possibility of baking experiences right here in Harpenden. Watch this space!

Mum’s Guide Find

Emese’s recommendation for anyone visiting? The sea salt pecan doughnut is a must-try. We’ll definitely be keeping that one on our list for our next visit!

With Bread Ahead now open on the high street and exciting plans in the pipeline, we’re looking forward to seeing how this new spot becomes part of Harpenden’s food scene.
