Medieval Father's Day Jousting

Joins us on Father's Day, Sunday 15th June, for Medieval Jousting!
The turrets and towers of Knebworth House will provide a spectacular backdrop to the costumed Knights on majestic warhorses galloping at full tilt across the arena in a fantastic display of horsemanship. The crowds are encouraged to cheer and jeer the Knights as they demonstrate their skill.
There are two scheduled jousting displays at 12pm and 2.30pm (timings dependent on weather).
Knebworth Garden, Park, Adventure Playground and Dinosaur Trail will open from 10.30am, and Knebworth House, Watchtower and Exhibition from 11.30am. Last admission is 4pm.

The Alban Arena, in partnership with Evolution Productions, are looking for girls to be part of the Juvenile Ensemble for their spectacular pantomime, ALADDIN!
Registration will take place at 2PM on 29th JUNE at THE ALBAN ARENA.
To audition you must be between ages 9 - 15 (inclusive) on 1st September 2025 and be under 5' 2". Auditions will end approximately 2 hours after the start-time, but you may need to stay longer if you are successful. You don't need to prepare anything - you'll be taught a routine on the day.
Come wearing comfortable clothes and soft/dance shoes. We advise that you bring some water, but no other food or drink.

The Grove Schools Summer Festival is back on Saturday 5th July! Our summer festival is now in its 3rd year and is gaining a reputation as an entertaining and fun family afternoon, attracting the local community in addition to school families. The event is free to attend although donations on the gate are welcome.
There will be a fully licensed bar, delicious food vendors, inflatables, a host of games, activities, face painting by Fizzbug, crafts, performances and more! This year we also have activities by the Little Gym and Fizzballers football.
Then from 3.30pm we welcome to the stage local band number 7 - back by popular demand - for an afternoon of live music.

Chiltern Open Air Museum are pleased to be hosting Bucks Music Trust's Summer Festival this July. Around 600 amateur musicians, ranging from beginners to advanced, will be performing on two stages in the open air, with groups, ensembles and choirs of all different types.
Bucks Music Trust has Music Centres in Amersham, Aylesbury and High Wycombe, all running a wide range of activities including orchestras, choirs, big bands, string ensembles, concert bands, pop bands, wind ensembles, guitar groups, percussion groups and more.
All the groups will perform, in a mix of individual and combined groups with great choices of repertoire for you to enjoy from many different genres, with music playing from 12.30-6.30pm.

A spectacular array of over 1,000 classic cars, scooters, and motorbikes pack Harpenden Common for the annual Classics on the Common, one of the UK's largest one-day classic car events! Visitors can expect to enjoy a wide variety of cars at the event, with everything from 1913 model T Ford and a 1916 Stanley Steamer, to Rolls Royces and Maseratis making appearances in past years. The event is free to attend, though donations are encouraged.
The classic vehicles arrive in two main tranches from 11.30 a.m. and from 2.00 p.m. Most vehicles are in position from 3.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. when the first vehicles may leave.

After dinner (bring your own or join us for a fish and chip run!) we'll have a walk around the reserve with bat detectors as the sun sets and learn all about the nocturnal wildlife of Rye Meads. A large walk-in labyrinth of colour and light will fill the lawn at Stockwood Discovery Centre this August. Visitors are invited to don a primary-coloured cloak to become part of the colour experience and step into a new world of intense colour and light.
You can freely walk anywhere to explore this amazing space and will discover musicians and dancers anywhere inside leading you on a journey of all the senses. The musicians may be found in a large Silver Dome playing unusual instruments - maybe Tibetan Singing bowls or Asian instruments or instruments of water, maybe playing the branch of a tree or a bicycle wheel with a violin bow! And the dancers express the music with creative movement that draws you into the experience.

We are planning a great day for the whole family; with 350+ classic vehicles, live music by The Barn-ettes and Missing the Ferry, delicious street food, a licensed bar, village stalls, and a children's funfair with miniature train rides.

We welcome blind and partially sighted children and their families to this special event.
Get hands on with real Museum specimens led by trained facilitators. Each event will explore a different theme and include different specimens.
The theme for June's workshop is British Wildlife, September is Marvellous Mammals and November's is Under the Sea.
During the session you are welcome to borrow our Tactile Bags to explore the galleries. These bags have a variety of items and specimens to bring the galleries to life.
Suitable for ages 5+. Booking is essential.
