We are really excited about our forthcoming Family Christmas Concert, featuring music from Stage and Screen, in aid of Future Academy.
The programme features pieces from Tchaikovsky's much loved Nutcracker Suite. We shall also perform music from seasonal films including Home Alone, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Polar Express, Chronicles of Narnia and The Snowman, and the concert will conclude with Leroy Anderson's Christmas Festival, featuring audience participation! Tickets are free, and through a collection we are supporting the work of Future Academy, which provides an English school and football academy for refugee children in Beirut, Lebanon.

The Children's Society Christingle Service
St John's Church

The annual Christingle Service organised by the Harpenden Committee of The Children's Society.
The service is for children of all ages and their parents and carers. Each child will receive a Christingle, which is an orange, decorated with sweets, dried fruit, red ribbon and a candle. There will also be a short talk about the work of The Children's Society, which is a national charity that runs local projects helping children and young people when they are at their most vulnerable and have nowhere left to turn. It will last for approximately 50 minutes. Donations will be invited for the work of the charity
Bethany Community Church Carol Service

Christmas with Continuum

Join Continuum as they return to St John's Church, Harpenden for an evening of choral music for the Christmas season.
The first half of the programme is made up of carols and Christmas music from continental Europe. After the interval, it is traditional British carols and arrangements of popular Christmas classics such as White Christmas and Jingle Bells.

Starring BGT's Francine Lewis as Grimalkin. Impressionist and comedian Francine Lewis captivated the British public and celebrity judges on Britain's Got Talent in 2013 with her uncanny impersonations of some of the biggest names in entertainment. She instantly became a huge hit, winning the public vote in the semi finals and making it through to the final. On the show, Francine was described as 'unique' and 'incredible' by Amanda Holden and David Walliams.
Returning to the EMC, after playing one of Cinderella's beautiful step sisters last year is Josh Handley playing Dame Dolly Doughnut. He is beyond thrilled to be donning the frock once again and being back in Harpenden this Christmas - watch out fellas!

Cards for Good Causes - Christmas Pop Up

If you like to buy charity cards for Christmas, we have a great selection at the United Reformed Church in Vaughan Road supporting a wide range of really worthy causes. The annual pop-up shop has returned, staffed with the generous help of local volunteers.
Cards for Good Causes can be found at the back of the Church from Monday to Saturday each week, until December 15th. Customers can access the Church through the main entrance to buy cards, gift wrap and much more.
With the help of supporters, Cards For Good Causes festive shops aim to raise money this Christmas season in aid of over 70 local and national charities including Diabetes UK, RNLI, British Heart Foundation, Alzheimers UK, Epilepsy UK, MS Society along with many more local charities.

Christmas Market at Luton Hoo Estate

Guess what? The Christmas Market at Luton Hoo Estate is happening on the 10th of December, from 10am to 4pm. It's the perfect opportunity to dive into the Christmas spirit with treats, eats, and gifts galore!
The market will be located at the Conservatory, inside the walls of the historic Walled Garden. There'll be a delightful variety of Christmas-themed trinkets and decorations, bespoke items, and of course, plenty of presents for you to choose from. Just a heads up, it's going to be a popular event, some items might be sold out quickly!

Christingle
St Albans Cathedral

The Christingle service is a yearly tradition which takes place in the lead up to Christmas. It uses a special symbol, a decorated orange, to explore the story of God's love for the world at Christmas. Each element of the decorated orange has symbolic value, and during the service candles are lit to represent Christ's light.
This service is in support of the Children's Society, and particularly welcomes children and families.

Roll up, Roll up! John Lawson's award-winning Christmas circus returns to Great Amwell Garden Centre, Van Hage this Christmas.
The line up for Christmas is completely new acts, will include Ringmaster Attila Endresz, from Chile Kikin the Clown, Simon Deville on the stacking chairs and cube manipulation, Miss Iona hula hoops and aerial hoop, comedy trampoline antics with Mr Teimuraz, Miss Larysa foot-juggling, plus hair hanging, audience participation routines, and lots more.

Conducted by John Andrews and accompanied by organist Roger Carter and featuring baritone soloist James Cleverton, the concert will feature many traditional favourites for both choir and audience.
Seasonal refreshments (included in the ticket price) will be served after the concert, and there will be an appeal and retiring collection in aid of the Open Door charity.

Impressionist and comedian Francine Lewis captivated the British public and celebrity judges on Britain's Got Talent in 2013 with her uncanny impersonations of some of the biggest names in entertainment. She instantly became a huge hit, winning the public vote in the semi finals and making it through to the final. On the show, Francine was described as 'unique' and 'incredible' by Amanda Holden and David Walliams.

Festive Gentle Stroll with Santa Paws Competition

Join us with your dogs for a Festive Walk on Dunstable Downs. This walk will be led by our legendary volunteers, Geoff and Annette and will be along the multi-user path.
A special prize will be available for the most festively dressed pooch!
Adult tickets are £3, children £1.50 and under 5's free. No booking needed, just turn up at the visitor centre and the group will leave together.
Children are welcome. We have 2 Tramper mobility vehicles available to hire in advance by calling the visitor centre or you may bring your own.

UH Arts + Culture proudly present Together - an exhibition of portraits from the University of Hertfordshire Art Collection, in its inaugural year as an Accredited Museum.
A small snapshot into the multiplicity of human experience, every portrait captures a moment in a person's life - through the lens of the sitter, artist, or sponsor. The stories explored in this exhibition are diverse, and begin in the 1700s, but there are connections to our contemporary era and the issues we face today. The works have been selected from the University's permanent collection, echoing one of the Collection's aims - to invite people to step out of their own contexts and disciplines, to think and question.

Starring BGT's Francine Lewis as Grimalkin. Impressionist and comedian Francine Lewis captivated the British public and celebrity judges on Britain's Got Talent in 2013 with her uncanny impersonations of some of the biggest names in entertainment. She instantly became a huge hit, winning the public vote in the semi finals and making it through to the final. On the show, Francine was described as 'unique' and 'incredible' by Amanda Holden and David Walliams.
Returning to the EMC, after playing one of Cinderella's beautiful step sisters last year is Josh Handley playing Dame Dolly Doughnut. He is beyond thrilled to be donning the frock once again and being back in Harpenden this Christmas - watch out fellas!

Roll up, Roll up! John Lawson's award-winning Christmas circus returns to Great Amwell Garden Centre, Van Hage this Christmas.
The line up for Christmas is completely new acts, will include Ringmaster Attila Endresz, from Chile Kikin the Clown, Simon Deville on the stacking chairs and cube manipulation, Miss Iona hula hoops and aerial hoop, comedy trampoline antics with Mr Teimuraz, Miss Larysa foot-juggling, plus hair hanging, audience participation routines, and lots more.
