Winter Reads at Hitchin Library

Published:

Winter can leave us feeling a little blue during the long dark evenings. Hertfordshire Libraries has decided to brighten up your winter with a wonderful reading challenge for all ages.

Winter Reads launched on Saturday 4 November 2023 and for your chance to win some amazing prizes, make sure you complete your challenge by 24 February 2024.

Winter Reads explained

To take part in Winter Reads you need to be a member of the library - it’s free to join. You can then collect your free challenge card from your local library.

Step 1: Put the numbers of your chosen challenges in the boxes on your challenge card.

Step 2: Once you have completed a challenge, date it and get it stamped by a member of staff or a library volunteer.

Step 3: For a chance to win some fantastic prizes, complete the information on the reverse of your challenge card and hand it to a member of staff.

All of the books you read as part of the challenge must be from Hertfordshire Libraries, this includes audio and eBooks from BorrowBox .

The challenge is flexible! If you’re not a big reader, one book can complete multiple challenges or you can make it more difficult and complete one book per challenge - it’s up to you!

You can get multiple challenges stamped at once. We recommend you complete the challenge within a minimum of 4 visits to the library.

Finishing certificates for children are available from your local library, while stock lasts.

You can only enter the prize draw once.
