Bees are essential to people and our planet but unfortunately bee populations are significantly declining. There are things we can to do help our bees and that's why Laura, a food growing educator and Meg, a teacher and forest school leader have come together to run a hands-on workshop during May half-term to get families taking part in activities to help save the bees.

The Gade River is full of wildlife and we will pause to feed any we spot. The Bryan Donkin boat leaves from outside our Visitor Centre in Fourdrinier Way, travels down The Gade to join the Grand Union Canal, where we will stop briefly.

Stories and facts along the way. A gentle time filler for younger children on holiday... and their parents as all children must be accompanied.

Lasts approximately 45 minutes. £6 per passenger whatever age, with a maximum of 12 passengers, plus crew.

Join us for an afternoon of fun exploring and learning about Pegsdon Hills and the animals that live there - the grazers and the wildlife. This activity is part of the Chilterns Walking Festival 2025.

As well as meeting Pegsdon's lambs and working sheepdog Hope, we will be going for a guided walk to discover the rare flowers, butterflies and birdlife found around Pegsdon Hills. We will also be creating some spring-related crafts to take home with you.

Get ready for a day full of fun and excitement as Hey Duggee comes to Hertfordshire Zoo on the 28th of May! Families and young fans of the lovable character are in for a treat with an event packed with activities and special surprises.

What to Expect Join Hey Duggee for an unforgettable day of fun, including interactive games and special performances of the iconic "Stick Song" that will have everyone singing and dancing along!

Come and visit the largest preserved Midland Railway signal box in the UK and one of the few preserved boxes that's open to the public and next to a busy main line railway.

Signalling demonstrations are run on the operating floor upstairs whenever asked for. Railway videos and a slideshow of the restoration are shown downstairs, with many signalling items on display, including single line 'tablet token' machines, and other railway-related exhibits.

In the garden visitors can operate working signals and a point; on display are old signs, lit oil lamps, a telegraph 'pole route' and a garden railway.

We suggest you allow at least 1 hour to view the garden and the signal box - no need to book - just come along. Light refreshments are available on open... Read more

The Gade River is full of wildlife and we will pause to feed any we spot. The Bryan Donkin boat leaves from outside our Visitor Centre in Fourdrinier Way, travels down The Gade to join the Grand Union Canal, where we will stop briefly.

Stories and facts along the way. A gentle time filler for younger children on holiday... and their parents as all children must be accompanied.

In this fascinating workshop The Savvy Herbalist, Tracy Rothery BSC (Hons) MNIMH, will give you an introduction to the benefits of herbs in supporting wellness and the relief of common conditions.
