Take the first step toward hobby beekeeping!
These day courses are held at our Honeyworks Beekeeping centre where friendly, experienced beekeepers will allow you to learn the first skills of beekeeping. You will enjoy looking inside a beehive, watching the bees at work and trying to find the queen in amongst the thousands of worker bees. You will also find out about different approaches to beekeeping, what equipment is needed and get an idea of how much time you need to spend. There will be plenty of time for discussion and questions with our very experienced beekeepers. Perhaps this could be the start of your new pastime.

The North Herts Community Safety Partnership, in conjunction with the Community Security Trust (CST) are delivering a free presentation on women's safety to North Herts residents next month.

The event will take place in the Council Chamber at the council offices in Letchworth Garden City on Thursday 26 June 2025 from 6pm until 8pm. Doors will open from 5.30pm and refreshments will be available.

The talk, which is open to any North Herts resident over 18, gives practical, common-sense advice on how to stay safe in a number of situations. There will be some simple tips to help keep you protected during your busy daily life, and a look at how technology can assist with your safety.

Following last year's sell-out event, Hitchin Symphony Orchestra is delighted to announce we will be putting on TWO concerts this year. These will take place on Sunday 29 June @ 12-1pm and 2-3pm at The British Schools Museum.

This fun and informal concert is designed for children and their families, featuring accessible and short orchestral classics on an animal theme. Music will include extracts from Carnival of the Animals and many more.

Children are invited to bring a cuddly toy along to enjoy the performance! During the concert children can sit on the floor at the front for a close-up view of the musicians. There will also be an opportunity to join the orchestra on stage for one of the pieces!

at the start of July, we're very excited to welcome parenting expect Sarah Ockwell-Smith to talk about her new book, Raising Attention: A book for anybody who has, or works with, children (of any age) with 'out of control' behaviour, including parents, teachers and healthcare professionals. The Repair Cafe is run entirely by volunteers and enables members of the public to bring their damaged items for volunteers to give them a new lease of life, preventing thousands of repairable household items from going to landfill every year.

Take the first step toward hobby beekeeping!
These day courses are held at our Honeyworks Beekeeping centre where friendly, experienced beekeepers will allow you to learn the first skills of beekeeping. You will enjoy looking inside a beehive, watching the bees at work and trying to find the queen in amongst the thousands of worker bees. You will also find out about different approaches to beekeeping, what equipment is needed and get an idea of how much time you need to spend. There will be plenty of time for discussion and questions with our very experienced beekeepers. Perhaps this could be the start of your new pastime.

'The Beat Goes On and On' is a show written especially for the youngsters, by the director's father, Mike Hurst. During the 60's Mike was a hugely successful record producer, working with the likes of Manfred Mann, Cilla Black, Cat Stevens and Marc Bolan -to name a few. The show is written with wit and humour drawn from his own experiences of the music business during that time.

It tells the story of a Fab 4 who, funnily enough, come from Liverpool. They're called THE GROTTLES and they're soon discovered by Harry Slime - Theatrical Agent. That's when the trouble starts for Harry. The show is packed with laughs and musical numbers... Read more

♻️ Help the environment and help your pockets! Suggested prices will be clearly signed on the day, usually between 50p - £2 per item for junior schools. All the proceeds go straight back to the school PTA's!

Now in its 2nd year, Little People Love Letchworth is a festival for under 5s and their families and is organised by Tutti Frutti and Best Before Café, with support from the Garden Square Shopping Centre and LoveLetchworth.

Tutti Frutti and Best Before Café believe that inclusivity and community alongside nature and creativity are central to healthy living. These are memorable and exciting sessions for individuals and families, where you can suit-up and explore a hive while learning all about the fascinating world of bees. You will get answers to all the questions you have about these wonderful creatures while visiting our BuzzWorks discovery centre and apiary, set in a nature reserve and surrounded by our tranquil garden and pond. Our friendly, experienced beekeepers will open and explore a real hive so that you can see the bees at work up close.
