A message from North Herts District Council...
Residents are invited to share their views on North Herts Council’s green spaces as part of a new public consultation to gather feedback on how residents use local green spaces, what they value most, and where improvements could be made.
This includes cleanliness and safety of facilities, biodiversity, accessibility and how spaces support activities like walking, sports, and relaxation. The consultation launches on Monday, July 6, 2026, with a digital survey available alongside paper copies for residents who prefer to respond offline.
Residents can complete the survey online via a QR code or pick up a paper copy from council offices, leisure centres, libraries, Hitchin Town Hall, and North Herts Museum. The Council will also be hosting a series of engagement opportunities to gather further feedback.
This includes outdoor pop-up sessions in parks across Letchworth, Hitchin, Baldock and Royston, where residents can speak directly to officers and share their feedback. These will take place on:
- Tuesday, August 18 – Royston, Priory Gardens, 11am–1pm
- Tuesday, August 18 – Baldock, Avenue Park, 2pm–4pm
- Tuesday, August 25 – Letchworth, Howard Park, 11am–1pm
- Tuesday, August 25 – Hitchin, Bancroft Recreation Ground, 2pm–4pm
Further engagement will include staff drop-in sessions at the District Council Offices on:
- Thursday, August 27 – District Council Offices, 10am–11.30am
- Tuesday, September 1 – District Council Offices, 2pm–3.30pm
There will also be attendance at community forums across the district throughout September:
- Southern Rural – September 10
- Hitchin – September 15
- Baldock – September 14
- Royston – September 23
- Letchworth – September 30
Local businesses, community groups, and environmental organisations are all invited to take part. By taking a few minutes to complete the survey, residents can help the Council understand what is working well and where improvements are needed to ensure green spaces across North Herts remain welcoming, safe, and enjoyable for everyone.

“North Herts is fortunate to have a wide range of green spaces that support health, wellbeing, and biodiversity. This consultation is about understanding how people use these spaces and what matters most to them, so we can continue to improve and protect them for future generations.
“We’d encourage as many residents as possible to take part, whether you regularly visit our parks or not, to help shape the future of green spaces across the district.”
