New weekly free coffee morning aims to create accessible community for those with young children
Hitchin-based parenting businesses have come together to launch ‘Hitchin Parent Hub’ a new, free weekly coffee morning for those with young children or are expecting.
Taking place from 9.30am -11am every Wednesday at Granello Lounge on Brand Street, Hitchin, parents or parents to-be can drop in with no booking needed and meet a rotating selection of perinatal and parenting experts, enjoy a coffee and connect with other local parents too.
This venture is the brainchild of Rachel Childs and Amy Jappy. Rachel Childs is a relationship coach, founder of Parents that work, and host of podcast Equal-ish. Amy Jappy is a Therapist providing professional support for a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges, with a specialist focus on birth trauma.
Hitchin Parent Hub launches with the support of and access to over twenty local experts. Each week at least two experts will be on hand to welcome parents and parents to be, answer questions and signpost to relevant nearby support.
Experts include Emma Anderson-Brown of Fuel for Mama, who specialises in hypnobirthing and perinatal trauma resolution, Bally Lidder of Lidder Therapies, specialising in pre and post natal physiotherapy, birth and postnatal doula and hypnobirthing antenatal educator Michelle Grant, pregnancy and post natal yoga, baby massage and antenatal educator Emma Tourle of Babu Birth, Anna Kwan of Core Confident who offers pregnancy and postnatal core rehabilitation and Emma Mutter a vocal coach who runs Singing Mamas groups for maternal wellbeing. The roster of experts is also bolstered with Emma Stott of TinyTalk Baby Signing and Lucy French, a board certified lactation consultant.
On 24th September the group will be visited by Hitchin MP Alistair Strathern, who is keen to support the group and hear about the maternity and paternity experiences of local parents as the government looks to review parental policies.
Co-founder Rachel Childs said: ‘Our aim is to create a space where parents can come together and find a community and also access advice and signposting from a group of trusted professionals. We’ve deliberately aimed to make this free and flexible, so that we can support as many parents as possible.”
Co-founder Amy Jappy commented: “We’ve been delighted by the response we’ve had from our local experts who were keen to get involved and support our vision. We’re so pleased to have such a variety of parenting and perinatal experts on board and hope we can provide valuable free help and advice amongst the community.”
