A message from North Herts District Council about Christmas bin collection dates
North Herts Council is advising residents that bin collection dates will change over the Christmas and New Year period, ensuring waste collection crews to enjoy a well-deserved break during the festive season.
Revised collection days will apply from Thursday, December 25, 2025, and residents are encouraged to check their bin hanger, visit the Council’s website, or use the new North Herts Council app for personalised reminders.

Recycle right this Christmas
Extra waste is common during the festive season. Here’s where some common festive items go:
- Wrapping paper (non-metallic) – blue-lidded bin
- Cardboard boxes (flattened) – blue-lidded bin
- Glass bottles and jars – black-lidded bin
- Plastic bottles and tubs – black-lidded bin
- Turkey bones and food scraps – brown food caddy
- Metallic wrapping paper and broken decorations – purple-lidded bin
