I love a National Trust day out, so when they do their free family pass offer, I'm all over it! These passes go fast, so here's the latest from moneysavingexpert.com as of 20:30 on Tuesday August 21st 2026:
Get a totally FREE National Trust one-time family pass by filling out the online form at Daily Express, Daily Star, Daily Mirror or InYourArea. It's a big saving as we found the pass would typically cost about £35, but it depends on which site you're visiting.
There were 130,000 free digital passes when the deal launched at 8.30am on Tuesday 21 July, but this offer is mega popular with MoneySavers, so these online passes are likely to go quickly. Each website has its own allocation of free passes, so if you visit one and they're gone, try a different link.
When can the pass be used?
It's valid for one visit on any day until Friday 28 August. Typically, the pass would normally cost about £30 to £40 depending on which site you're visiting.
What does the pass cover?
It allows two adults and up to three children, or one adult and up to four children (or couples or individuals) to visit one National Trust site for free in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland (Scotland locations and English Heritage sites aren't included). Kids must be 17 or under, though under-fives go free anyway. See all the locations you can use your pass – when we checked, there were just over 200 included sites. The pass does not cover paid events.
There's nothing to pay for entry, but some car parks charge fees, and this pass doesn't get them for free. One pass per household is permitted.
Some National Trust properties require booking in advance (check beforehand)
Do this by selecting 'Book a visit' on your chosen property, then selecting 'Affiliate organisation member or passholder' tickets for the amount of people who wish to visit. By selecting this option, you won't need to input any bank details. Once you've completed the 'transaction', you'll receive a confirmation email.
You'll need to show your pass when you arrive at your National Trust site – if you booked, you'll also need to show your booking confirmation. Mobile coverage may be limited at some National Trust sites, so it's a good idea to download it to your device, or print the email.
