Have you seen the Corn Hill Alpacas around Hitchin? They’re becoming local celebrities! Last weekend we were invited to do a Tried and Tested review of 'The Family Experience 45 minute Trek' with the gorgeous trio of Alpacas (and their lovely handlers) in Charlton. All week, the boys were asking me if today is the day we're walking alpacas- they were so excited!
Arriving at our meeting point, we were introduced to the brilliantly named Lord Thomas Mulberry, Mr Pepper Pot and Sunny Jim-Bob Esquire, and given our briefing of what to expect and how to be safe with the Alpacas.
We set off on our trek and even my mum, who was very nervous when we arrived and didn’t want to take part, was soon leading an Alpaca herself! They were so calming and before long, my husband, who wasn’t sure about coming, was practically skipping through the fields alongside Lord Thomas Mulberry!
Throughout the walk, we were given facts about the Alpacas and got to experience walking each of them and learning about their personalities. The boys absolutely loved leading the Alpacas across the fields- it was such a great experience to get out in the fresh air and we all agreed it was really relaxing and mindful. My boys are not fans of walking- we usually end up carrying our youngest even on a short walk, but he managed the whole trek, which was amazing. It's an easy route for little legs.
There are so many ways you can experience interacting with the Alpacas, and they have some great events coming up, but they’re always open to new ideas and bespoke offerings, so get in touch if you have a special event in mind.
