An article from Visit Hitchin

The screen sector is booming in Hertfordshire, and Hitchin has growing appeal as a filming location which is delivering clear economic benefits to the town.

An estimated £11.3M was recorded across Hertfordshire April 24 to April 25, and it is looking close to doubling this financial year.

Hertfordshire Film Office attracts and supports filming across the county – connecting productions with local businesses, streamlining filming permissions and logistics, shortlisting locations, and advising on sustainability, innovation, and work experience for future talent.

The Film Office is now calling for more Hitchin businesses, venues, and creative freelancers to benefit from this boom by joining its supplier, location, and crew databases. Registering helps productions source everything they need from within the county – from accommodation and catering to equipment, transport, and specialist skills – ensuring filming spend benefits the local economy, businesses, and residents.

This is your chance to get involved!

Hitchin businesses from all sectors – from hospitality and retail, to creative services, construction, and transport – are invited to register as suppliers. Local freelancers can join the crew database, while property and venue owners can promote their spaces as filming locations – from residential homes and listed properties to warehouses and unique sites.
