The Liberty - Child Safe Zones

Published:

Are you aware of the procedure for Lost Children within The Liberty Shopping Centre? Child Safe is a simple effective scheme to quickly re-unite lost children with their family.

How It Works
The Scheme is very simple, consisting of two components; a wristband and a helpline number.

The wristband has two boxes on the back for the parents to write their mobile contact numbers.

The Helpline

Displayed on posters and stickers around The Liberty Shopping centre, this is patched through to the duty officer, or anywhere a responsible staff member will take the appropriate steps to alert security officers and/or police, and implement the centre’s own emergency procedures. This means that the person who has lost or found a child can remain close to where the child is, or was last known to be, and keep calm and alert in the knowledge that everything is being done to assist.

This number is also great for vulnerable people, anyone who feels threatened, or for visitors to report any worries or potentially dangerous situations.

The Wristband

These are available free of charge to visitors in The Liberty. Parents or guardians write their mobile number in the space on the back of the band. So, if a child is found upset or apparently lost, the parent or guardian can be contacted directly, minimising the delay and potential for harm. These can be collected from the Customer Service Desk located between Boots and Clinton Cards.

The wristbands are designed to be comfortable to wear and cannot easily be torn or removed, but will break under a certain amount of resistance.

Most importantly the assistance number you need to call if you lose your child is 08700 622744

Please be aware this scheme only applies in The Liberty Shopping Centre itself. For a reusable wrist band that you could use to help keep your child safe at all venues this summer take a look at https://shop.communityinspired.co.uk/
