Hitchin Festival
Throughout July
Hitchin Festival is back from June 29th with over 100 events on offer. As always you can book for some of these events directly from the Hitchin Festival website. You can also flick through the full programme and find links to book other events. ‚ÄčEach year the festival promotes a huge variety of events including poetry, art exhibitions, concerts, theatre and kids entertainment. Browse the programme online or pick one up from the Hitchin Information office in Churchyard or from a number of other shops around town. There is also a box office open in the Hitchin Information office on Fridays and Saturdays.

Hitchin Pride Market on Hitchin Market Place

The Seven foot sisters are coming to Hitchin this Saturday to host North Herts Pride! They have a fabulous show lined up starting at 2:00pm in town square, followed by all the after parties you could dream of! The team at North Herts Pride have worked so hard to put this together so come on down and celebrate pride together!

Hitchin's Toy Story Exhibit at
North Herts Museum
Sat 13th July 2024 - Sun 22nd September 2024 (Closed Mondays)
This family-friendly exhibition will feature a colourful display of original sketches, artworks, videos, production toy samples and prototype models from Hitchin's Raffo Pape and Woodward's back catalogue. You may recognise many of them. There are also concepts and prototypes for products that didn't quite make it. It highlights the entire design process, from original concept through to final manufacture and marketing.

Triangle Tribe - bushcraft for wellbeing for teens at Triangle Community Garden
Fri 19th July 2024 6.30-8.30pm
Outdoor bushcraft and survival skills for families with teens. Get outside, learn new skills, meet new people/bring a friend, spend some family/intergenerational time in a different setting. Triangle Tribe is a monthly evening of Bushcraft for Wellbeing, outdoors at the community garden, for families with teens aged 12 to 16, led by forest school specialists CultureWood CiC. Grandparents welcome. Neurodiversity welcome. Activities will vary with the seasons and are likely to include outdoor survival skills, open fire cooking, ancient fire skills, whittling, foraging, nature observation and making useful and decorative things from natural materials.

We run these at the shop on Saturday afternoons at 10:30am. No need to book, just come along. We will read one or more stories and either make a simple craft or run an activity like singing or parachute or a game.
All very relaxed and informal, all ages welcome but ideally suited to the very young - pre school - children.

The Romans are coming on
Event Island in Stevenage

The Romans are coming to Event Island! Come along to Event Island on Saturday 20 July, from 11am-3pm, for a free fun-filled event for the whole family. The event includes demonstrations from the Roman Military Research Society that show why the Roman army was such a formidable force. The Longthorpe Legion will also be there to recreate how everyday people lived in this far-flung northern outpost of the Roman Empire, Britannia. Visitors will have the chance to talk to the re-enactors and, if you are brave enough, perhaps join up and get put through your paces as a Roman army recruit!

This uplifting story tells the tale of a robot with a broken heart who gives his remaining strength to save the life of a little bird and rediscovers his life purpose. With presenter Sheena Masson, Britten Sinfonia's musicians perform a newly-created musical version of the children's book by David Lucas with specially created animations by Victor Craven and a brilliant, jazz influenced score by composer Raph Clarkson. The concert lasts approximately 50 minutes, including time to learn the songs. It is suitable for all ages and designed especially for children aged 4 to 8.

Hertford Castle Teddy Bears Picnic
