Walsworth Festival on Walsworth Common

The Walsworth Festival was first conceived in the 1950s and organised by the Walsworth Residents' Community Association at St Faith's Church. Having gone through a number of different incarnations over the years, the festival is now run by a small band of local volunteers, and is host to various stalls, events, music, food, and even a car show! So mark our event in your calendar and join the thousands of other visitors who come from far and wide to celebrate over 50 years of Walsworth Festivals!

Triangle Tribe - bushcraft for wellbeing for teens at Triangle Community Garden
Fri 17th May 2024 6.30-8.30pm
Outdoor bushcraft and survival skills for families with teens. Get outside, learn new skills, meet new people/bring a friend, spend some family/intergenerational time in a different setting. Triangle Tribe is a monthly evening of Bushcraft for Wellbeing, outdoors at the community garden, for families with teens aged 12 to 16, led by forest school specialists CultureWood CiC. Grandparents welcome. Neurodiversity welcome. Activities will vary with the seasons and are likely to include outdoor survival skills, open fire cooking, ancient fire skills, whittling, foraging, nature observation and making useful and decorative things from natural materials.

We run these at the shop on Saturday afternoons at 2:30pm. No need to book, just come along. We will read one or more stories and either make a simple craft or run an activity like singing or parachute or a game.
All very relaxed and informal, all ages welcome but ideally suited to the very young - pre school - children.

Seasonal Foraging Walk - Oughtonhead

Hitchin Forager Jane Simmons will lead a seasonal outdoor foraging walk, guiding participants to seek out seasonal wild food ingredients, discussing the properties of various hedgerow plants and sharing tips on how to use them in cooking, teas, jams and preserves. You'll be surprised how many interesting wild foods are commonly found in our hedgerows and wild places. Book ahead.

A mini bus will operate to and from the Community Centre to the gardens on a request basis.
