LEAF Open Farm Sunday- farms near Hitchin

LEAF Open Farm Sun­day is on 8th June 2025 and is farm­ing’s annu­al open day, giv­ing vis­i­tors the oppor­tu­ni­ty to learn more about farm­ing and the coun­try­side, and farm­ers the chance to talk about what they’re so proud of: British food and farming!

 Activ­i­ties range from machin­ery dis­plays, trac­tor and trail­er rides, through to demon­stra­tions, nature walks and much more!

Easthall Farm, St Paul's Walden

Event cost: Free
Tractor trailer rides to see livestock (beef cattle), agri-environment schemes and conservation work, and arable crops. Static display of farm machinery and information about farming. This event is run alongside the opening of St Paul's Walden Bury gardens for the National garden scheme. Open Farm Sunday is free, but there is a charge to enter the garden. Within the Walls project in the Walled Garden will also be open.

Gaddesden Home Farm, Hemel Hempstead

Visit Gaddesden Home Farm as part of Open Farm Sunday, 8th June. The day will include: tractor and trailer tours of the farm, static machinery, a host of family-friendly activities, displays (such as sheep shearing and large machinery demonstrations), food on sale from local producers and a chance to chat all things farming in 2025. Set in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Gaddesden Home Farm is an historic family enterprise which today features both conventional and organic farming alongside environmental stewardship. The farm is mixed use, with an arable operation at its core and regenerative agriculture as a key focus. Food grown at Gaddesden supplies WildFarmed, Doves Farm and Weetabix, among others.

RVC Boltons Park Farm

Event cost: Free entry
Visit the Royal Veterinary College's working teaching farm as part of the national event Open Farm Sunday! You can meet our animals including cows and chickens, learn vet skills with specialist RVC staff, and find out about world class biosciences research. Student ambassadors will help visitors of all ages take part and enjoy this free day out. Boltons Park Farm has a farm shop selling milk from our dairy herd, and eggs from our chickens. Come and talk to staff and students, learn all about the biodiversity plans on the farm and more:

  • Refreshments and some farm produce available
  • Picnic area on site
  • The visit is suitable for families and the majority of the site accessible to wheelchairs.
  • We encourage sustainable transport where possible- e.g. walking or cycling from Potters Bar or Brookmans Park. Guided walks will be available.

Parking is also available in one of our farm fields although there is limited capacity - lookout for parking signs and marshalls to direct you on arrival. There is no fee.
Apologies, we are not able to accommodate dogs for this event as we have young animals on site.
Sensible footwear recommended.
