Jack and the Beanstalk is a Giant Success!

Published:

If you're a fan of a good panto at Christmas (and who isn't?!) you will love Polka Dot Pantomimes production of Jack and the Beanstalk at The Eric Morecambe Centre this December.  It is full of all the requisite set panto pieces - the brilliantly corny jokes that make you laugh even when you want to groan, the audience participation, "it's behind you!" and "oh no it isn't!", the cheering of the panto dame and the booing of the baddie and so many more.  But it is also a visual treat with fantastic costumes, a great set and fabulous dance moves.  Of course it also delivers musically with current pop tunes you'll recognise and you won't be able to resist clapping and dancing along in your seat.

MGTH were lucky enough to be invited along to the Press opening of this year's show.  It was an enthusiastic audience and everyone was up for joining in with all the required calling out and singing, which helped make it a great night.  There was definitely plenty of Christmas cheer and we couldn't fail to leave at the end of the night with big grins on our faces and a spring in our step!

Theo Mayne from BBC's Traitor's was a brilliantly wicked baddie and we enjoyed the accompanying Traitor jokes.  My teen was a little star struck that Theo was actually on stage right in front of him!  Josh Handley was back as the fantastic panto dame with all the very funny (and sometimes over the kids' heads!) jokes that go with a panto dame!  They entertained the crowd brilliantly, but look out guys if you're near the front - you might become a little more part of the show than anticipated!

Joe Johnston impressed with his portrayal of the hero, Jack, whilst Holly Elle Martin was a perfect Princess, and they belted out some amazing tunes.  As did Rosie Winter as the fairy narrator - she definitely sparkled!  Chris Gannon made his debut as Silly Simon and at times stole the show.  Finally, but by no means least, Chris Marlowe completed the main cast and played the King of Harpendia.  The dancers added amazing moves, colour and glitz to the stage throughout.  But of course Daisy the Cow was a firm audience favourite!

Finally, we won't spoil the surprises, but we know you will be especially dazzled by the special effects in Act 2!

Jack and the Beanstalk is on at The Eric Morecambe Centre until Tuesday 30 June 2025.  Book your tickets now Or if you're very quick enter our competition before Wednesday 10th December to be in with a chance of winning a family ticket!
