Colourscape at Cassiobury Park, Watford

๐ŸŽจ Colourscape is Coming Back to Cassiobury Park – and It's Honestly Magical for Kids! ๐Ÿ’ซ

So pleased that Colourscape is returning to Cassiobury Park this summer (16–25 August 2025), and if you’ve never been before, you have to add it to your summer plans. We went last year and honestly… it’s like stepping into another world made entirely of light, colour and wonder.

Think giant inflatable tunnels, glowing walls, soft music echoing in the background, and kids running around with wide eyes and huge smiles. It’s the kind of thing you remember – and talk about for ages afterwards.

๐ŸŒˆ What Actually Is Colourscape?

Imagine a big maze made of colourful interconnected domes – each one glowing in different bold colours like red, blue, green and yellow. As you walk (or run!) through, the light shifts and changes, and everything around you feels totally surreal… in the best way.

One of our girls said it felt like being “inside a rainbow”, and honestly, that’s spot on.

It’s designed to be completely immersive, so you don’t just look at the art – you become part of it. Kids can explore at their own pace, and it’s all totally safe and contained so you can let them lead the way (and trust me, they will).

๐Ÿ‘ถ Perfect for All Ages (Especially Little Explorers)

Whether you’ve got a toddler who loves crawling, a school-aged child who’ll charge through like a superhero, or a sensory-seeking little one who finds peace in soft light and gentle music – there’s something for everyone.

It’s also really great for children with sensory processing differences. It’s calm, enclosed and not overwhelming – and the staff are lovely and supportive if you need a bit of extra help or time.

Top tip: if you want a really peaceful experience, book the final session of the day – it’s a little quieter and you can take things slowly.

๐ŸŽถ Live Music Makes It Even More Magical

During the week, there’s usually a musician (Michael Ormiston) playing beautiful, otherworldly sounds – all very gentle and atmospheric. On the weekends, they often have full performances inside Colourscape – we’ve seen dancers, harpists, and even experimental instruments being played as we wandered around. It just adds this whole other layer to the experience.

If you'd prefer to skip the muic (especially for children who are more sensitive), there’s even a quiet “Preview Day” on Saturday 16 August with no live sound at all.
