Education & childcare

Our school is a place where our children can learn, grow and become the best versions of themselves. We are a happy and safe school, where we achieve success through the everyday practice of our Catholic ethos and our aspirational approach in all that we do, and where excellent teachers guide children to achieve at their highest level. We are a wonderful family community, where our children are supported and encouraged by a team of committed staff, governors and parents. We have a culture of successful learning and an inclusive, caring and supportive environment where the shared love of Christ is at the centre of all we achieve.

ight Track Nursery is ideally situated at Hertford East Station, providing the perfect location for Hertford commuters to drop off and pick up their children. At The Right Track Nursery, we understand how difficult a decision it is to leave your child in the care of others. In an effort to provide the 'best things in life', parents are constantly faced with the ordeal of choosing appropriate child care, to give them peace of mind to pursue their careers. That is why at The Right Track Nursery we are dedicated professionals and have a NNEB and DCE trained team with a strong focus on nurturing every child in our care, so they can develop in a happy and secure setting. Our Hertford based nursery offers a 'home from home' environment for children aged 3 months to 5 years where they are cared for and motivated to grow as individuals. We aim to provide child care based on traditional family values. Our professional and friendly nursery staff teach by example; and by sharing mealtimes with the children, they develop both social and good eating habits. At The Right Track Nursery, we believe parents are in partnership with us in the development of their child at all stages. We can assure you that once your child is in the nursery, they will be completely safe and secure, but most of all, happy.

Wheatcroft opened fully as a County Primary School in September 1974. The building then contained space for seven classes and admitted approximately thirty children each year. A private nursery was opened on an adjacent part of the school site, and this eventually became a fully funded County nursery class. Due to the school's popularity, and to answer the demand for more primary places in the area, the school underwent a major expansion project. Work began in 1996 to convert Wheatcroft to a one and a half-form entry school, allowing it to take forty five children each year. A large extension was built which now houses the nursery and older children. Wheatcroft School is a one and half form entry primary school with a nursery class. There is a maximum of 360 children on roll and class sizes are limited to thirty children. The school is housed in an attractive modern building which stands in a generous playground and field area. We are very well provided with books, computers and all other educational equipment. Parental interest in the school is strong. We have an active PTFA and there are many opportunities during the school year when parents can take a closer look at the achievements of their children and become more involved in school activities. These include open evenings, concerts, sports days, helping on school journeys and in the classrooms. Children have a voice in the running of the school through the School Council. Standards of work and behaviour are high. Our children regularly exceed the national and county levels of achievement for eleven year olds. We also encourage a culture of care, consideration and politeness which helps generate the good relationships and positive ethos we enjoy in our school. We are pleased to announce that the school has recently been awarded the Arts Council England Artsmark, Silver Award for Eco-Schools and the International Schools Award.
