Manga Portraits Art Workshop (Age 12+) – October Half Term Workshops
Southern Maltings
Fri 1st November 2024
2pm
Manga Portraits Art Workshop - come and learn all about Manga Art and how it is created, and then work on your own drawings using all the exercises and inspirations provided by our passionate tutor!
We have a new tutor who we are really excited about sharing with you. Heba Rena Yassin has a love of Japanese Art, Anime and Manga Art and cannot wait to share her passion with your teens to help them create their own Japanese and Manga inspired artwork.
She will start the session by giving a PowerPoint presentation introducing Manga, talk about her inspirations and show examples of her work. She will then explain how a head is constructed, the anatomy, clothing, panels, and some show process videos. She will give students in her workshop an exercise for the rest of the session, where they have the freedom to create something based on the workshop and can ask her questions at any point. In the meantime, she will demonstrate using her graphics tablet and check on everyone's progress. Her aim is to create a relaxed, informal environment, where everyone can let their creativity flow, whilst being inspired.
Heba Rena Yassin is a Hatfield based freelance artist. She was born in Sutton, UK and grew up in Limassol, Cyprus.
She studied BA Fine Art at the University of Hertfordshire and later MA Digital Art and Design at the University of Nicosia.
Her work is very much influenced by Japanese art and culture. The world of anime and manga captivated her imagination since she was a teenager. She has always been interested in the relationship between image and narrative. As a freelancer, she primarily creates comics and character designs based on my own or other people's stories. Heba has exhibited her work with Herts Visual Arts in Welwyn and I has run manga workshops and demonstrations in libraries in Hertfordshire for the 'My Story' Project.
