Welcome! From bumps to teens we have it covered.
This is your one-stop site for everything you need to know about living in Luton with children.
Looking for activities for your children this summer? Why not encourage them to join the Summer Reading Challenge taking place at all libraries across the UK, including Luton Libraries. This years challenge launched on Saturday 5th July.
The theme for 2025 is “Story Garden” - Adventures in Nature and the Great Outdoors! This exciting new theme will inspire children to tap into a world of imagination through reading, exploring the magical connection between storytelling and nature.
Children can pop into the library any time from Saturday 5th July to join. Alternatively, take part in the Challenge online by signing up here! Set a reading goal and log your books on your profile. Reach your goal and unlock a limited-edition online badge and a certificate.
Throughout the summer, children joining the 2025 Summer Reading Challenge can discover new books, participate in free activities at their local library, and explore the link between reading and the great outdoors, where nature and imagination come together.
The Summer Reading Challenge is all about reading for fun, aiming to improve children’s reading skills and confidence. All children aged 4-11 are welcome to take part and simply asked to read 6 books of choice over the school holidays. They’ll also collect free rewards for their reading along the way. Plus, any child who enters can enjoy a Fun Time Splash Session for just £2.50 at your local Active Luton pool* by showing their library card at reception.
Your child can borrow and read any books, e-Books and audiobooks of their choice in any genre they like: fiction, fact books, poetry, joke books, picture books and graphic novels all count. And for younger children sharing a book with parents and carers counts. You will find lots of inspiration in the library and on the Summer Reading Challenge website.
Children who read 6 books and complete the challenge by 6th September will receive a certificate and medal.
