Calling all mini-wildlife explorers this Autumn!
Come and join us for a fun morning of exploration and discovery within the enclosed area of Wardown Park's arboretum, right next to the museum's car park.

This group is for pre-school children (aged 3-5 years old) and encourages outdoor play and discovery. Sessions run fortnightly on a Thursday morning and the aim is to build confidence of being in the outdoors for both children and their guardians and to connect with local green spaces. Enjoy crafts, story time and outdoor play in this lovely location.

Activities may vary and we try to be outside for all sessions, so please wear appropriate clothing and footwear. We will serve a drink and snack but please... Read more

Welcome to Wild Ed - Primary!

Sessions run fortnightly on Thursday afternoons (1pm-2.30pm) for 6 - 10 year olds.
It is a great place for youngsters to explore, learn about nature, build confidence and gain new skills, all in the enclosed outdoor setting of the Arboretum Area at Wardown Park, adjacent to the Museum car park.

Led by our experienced staff, sessions will include activities such as bug hunting, natural art, safe tool use all based around the changing seasons, and with clear links to the national curriculum.

Booking is essential and children must be accompanied by an adult. The sessions will take place outside so please ensure that you wear appropriate clothing and footwear, cancellation will only be made during extreme weather... Read more

Halloween Evening with Owls - October 25th 5.30-8.30
Join us this Owl-oween for a spooktacular evening with our Owls!
The evening starts at 5.30 with a bbq of burgers, sausages and mixed salads accompanied by a soft drink. This is then followed by meeting and handling some of our owls, come face to face with the beautiful Barn Owl, feel the weight of the Giant Eagle Owl, meet our little Scops Owl and more. This is the perfect opportunity to ask the falconers any questions you have and take some photos.
Head out into the main arena where you can have a go at flying an owl for yourself, experience their silent flight as they glide into your gloved hand.

Autumn Open Day - October 2025

Join us in the wonderful Walled Garden for all things crafty with an Autumn theme. Outdoor fun and craft in the last open day of the Walled Garden of the year.
£5 per child Adults £3 and under 2's FREE

Parking is free and conveniently located right next to the Walled Garden. We also offer accessible facilities within the garden, along with plenty of seating options throughout. Dogs on leads accompanied by well behaved owners are welcome to join us for Autumn Open Day. 🙂

Half-term adventure in Hay Wood with den building, fire lighting and hands-on woodland crafts for primary-age kids!

Looking for a half-term adventure? Come and explore Hay Wood with us for a morning of bushcraft fun, campfire treats and autumn magic!

Join us for November's Walk in the Park to explore the countryside North of Luton and find out more about the migrating birds that pass through here every year!

Meet at the Inspire Sports Village entrance before we set to explore Stopsley Common and the nearby countryside. Expect some inclines in this walk but of course this will allow us to enjoy spectacular views. Local bird watcher Stuart Winter will help guide this walk and inform us about what birds can be spotted at this time of year but this is also another chance to simply explore one of Luton's beautiful green spaces and take some time out to enjoy being in nature and meeting other people.
