Make a cake with collage with new tutor Kathy Gales!

What's your favourite? A rich chocolate cake or a traditional Victoria sponge?

Learn how to combine collage and paint to form almost edible sponge, icing and cream. Then add decorative touches for an artwork with taste. You will be using a variety of papers, both new and upcycled, including sweet wrappers and magazine cutouts. You will then add touches using watercolour paint. Taking a simple cut out template, you can then use your imagination to create your unique cake of your dreams!

Drawing Lizards Workshop - May Half Term - Step into a lively and engaging art workshop led by Lucy, an experienced teacher and art lead.

In this session, we'll take a close look at lizards, learning how to depict their quirky characteristics through the use of line, shape, form, and texture.

Sketching Big Cats - Join Lucy, an experienced teacher and art lead, for a fun and dynamic art workshop.

In this session, we'll explore the world of big cats, focusing on how to capture their powerful and majestic qualities using line, shape, form, and texture.

We'll start with a range of warm-up and mark-making exercises using graded pencils. Participants will then learn to draw cat faces from both a front view and side profile, simplifying them into basic shapes. Sketch your Pet Drawing Workshop! Join us with tutor Elena Russu to draw your pet in coloured pastels, pens or pencils.

In this workshop our tutor Elena will demonstrate how to work from a photograph of your favourite pooch or crazy cat, looking at colours and textures to create a portrait of your furry friend. Of course, if you don't have a pet but would really like one, then you can draw any furry friend you would like to bring a photo of!

Children's Craft Carousel (Age 3-7) - May Half Term Workshops

Get your crafting in at Southern Maltings and pay a visit our newly opened café with delicious offerings for children AND their Grown-Ups!

Younger children can choose from different craft stations set up with a selection of craft activities - going from one to the next like a carousel! The theme is Minibeasts!

We will also have playdough and small world play. Get crafty and have lots of fun and leave the mess for us to clear up!
