Her mosaic workshops are very popular in St Albans and she had two sold out sessions in our Easter Mosaic Workshops and would love to share her tile magic with you at Southern Maltings this half term.

Mini Magical Gardens - Create and craft your own mini fairy garden using recycled materials, seeds and live plants and watch it grow all Summer.

Children will build their garden using a selection of plants, seeds, crafts, sticks and recycled materials, and after being taught how to create the garden, will be encouraged look after it by watering all summer and nurturing it, and to re-use everything again next year to do it all again.

This 1-hr workshop is lead by Tara from Tara in the Garden. She is a local horticultural therapist and children's gardening workshop facilitator. She has a host of experience leading therapeutic gardening projects in a number of schools in Hertford and Hatfield and has a passion for all things grown.

You will be creating your own abstract flower illustrations and bringing them to life with watercolours, before turning them into a wonderful sculpture"

Welcome to the Wonderland Hat Shop!

Listen and watch the Hatter as he tells the story of Alice's journey in Wonderland through puppets, beautiful painted scenery, music, song and of course hats!

Along the way meet some strange and magical creatures, get to wear one of the Hatter's special hats, join in the songs and the lobster dance.

At the end of the journey meet the puppets and make one of your own at the puppet making workshop.

Show is 40 minutes long followed by a workshop between 30 and 60 minutes long.
Doors 12:30pm. Performance 1pm.

Join local macramé artist Macramé Mummy Becky, for a morning of mindful making, learning the knots to create this gorgeous rainbow in this extended 3 hour workshop.

Get your creative hands at the ready, as Macramé Mummy Becky returns to Southern Maltings this may half term to help you create this beautiful rainbow. The rainbow measures approx. 25cm and will be make a gorgeous wall hanging or decoration. Whether this decoration is for keeps to go in your room, on a door or to give to a friend, it will make anyone who sees it smile.

Sketch your pet! Join us with tutor Elena Russu to draw your pet in coloured pastels, pens or pencils.

In this workshop our tutor Elena will demonstrate how to work from a photograph of your favourite pooch or crazy cat, looking at colours and textures to create a portrait of your furry friend. Of course, if you don't have a pet but would really like one, then you can draw any furry friend you would like to bring a photo of!

After a short introduction to herself and each other, she will show different type of composition.
Elena will demonstrate different tricks and techniques to use pastels and pencils, and talk about colour, how it can be mixed and the use of white for highlighting and adding depth, particularly when drawing fur.

Children's Craft Carousel - Get your crafting in at Southern Maltings this May Half Term.

Younger children can choose from different craft stations set up with a selection of craft activities - going from one to the next like a carousel!

This week the theme is Fantasy and Wonder. From dragons, aliens, fairies and more....get all your holiday crafting in at Southern Maltings.

We will also have playdough and small world play.

Get crafty and have lots of fun and leave the mess for us to clear up!
