Together, we will explore the world of British birds, learning to capture their charm through line, shape, form, and texture. There are so many feathered friends in our gardens at this time of year, and this workshop will give the opportunity to stop and really look at the quirky natures of these common birds, that we see all the time, but don't really see!

The workshop will start with some warm-up exercises and some practice mark-making using dry media - pencil and pastel.

We will then practise sketching birds in various poses, selecting one to develop further and to render using coloured pastels.

Join us with Tutor Elena Russu for some indoor abstract urban sketching inspired by famous cities.

This workshop is inside working from printed resources and will be using pencils and pastels to recreate some city scapes. Looking at line, detail, composition, perspective, tone and colour they will quickly gain the skills and confidence to start capturing the beauty of an urban setting and using their imagination to turn it into a work of art.

After a short introduction to herself and each other, Elena will demonstrate different tricks and techniques and how she builds her sketches.

Join us for a drop-in marbling taster with Anna from Marbling Magpie. Her table will be set up in our Atrium between 9.30am and 12.30pm where she will have different marbling options for you to try.

Prices are variable at the time of your taster depending on what you choose to marble.
