Sketch your Pet Workshop (Age 11+) – May Half Term Workshops
Southern Maltings
Thu 29th May 2025
2pm
Sketch your pet! Join us with tutor Elena Russu to draw your pet in coloured pastels, pens or pencils.
In this workshop our tutor Elena will demonstrate how to work from a photograph of your favourite pooch or crazy cat, looking at colours and textures to create a portrait of your furry friend. Of course, if you don't have a pet but would really like one, then you can draw any furry friend you would like to bring a photo of!
After a short introduction to herself and each other, she will show different type of composition.
Elena will demonstrate different tricks and techniques to use pastels and pencils, and talk about colour, how it can be mixed and the use of white for highlighting and adding depth, particularly when drawing fur.
Elena has experience teaching both adults and children both in person and online, in a variety if different workshops in pastels, water colour and drawing. She has taught students from the Metropolitan University and run workshops for Urban Sketchers London. She also creates commercial illustrations for packaging brands and book covers; her recent illustrated book is called '' The Menacing Mystery of Troublesome Town" by Patricia Cecan.
This workshop is designed for children and teens aged 11+ and all materials will be provided.
Just bring your creativity, lots of enthusiasm and large printed photograph of your chosen animal, and we'll take care of the rest!
This is a drop off workshop with our DBS certified tutor with a maximum of 12 students. The session is on Thursday 29th May at 2.30pm lasts for 2 hours and is costed at £15.
The workshop will take place in our South Cowl with access from the East End of Southern Maltings.
We are currently undergoing an exciting redevelopment of our Café area at the East End of the building, so access will be via our lower studio.
