Serving in day, night and training operations, the Gloster Meteor was the only allied jet to see combat in the Second World War whereas the De Havilland Vampire a product of post-war engineering. Don't miss out on the opportunity to peer inside the cockpits not one but two historic aircraft! PLEASE NOTE: Visitor will NOT gain access INTO the cockpit but will be taken through the controls by an experienced-guide from the outside. Recommended Age: 8+ [24 - 28 May, Booking required]
The RAF Museum is undertaking the mighty task of creating a giant LEGO model of the Second World War's most iconic aircraft. This is of course, the iconic Supermarine Spitfire. An ambitious task for sure but we are confident it can be done. However, we are going to need the help from hundreds of little (and not so little) engineers if this mighty feat is to be achieved. Participants will use the LEGO provided to construct larger bricks which over the two day workshop, an experienced LEGO big-builder will use them to build the model. Check out the snowman, train and even a spooky pumpkin from their previous big-builds below! We are certain that our Spitfire is going to be even cooler than those designs. When the model complete it is sure to be a star attraction on display throughout the D-Day Weekend. Recommended Age: 4+ [ 29th & 30th May, FREE, drop in]
D-Day Weekend - Don't forget about the Museum's big D-Day celebration weekend May 31 & June 1! There will be live music, swing dance workshops, interactive talks and much, more. Check out the link below for more information.
The Second World War Week's activities are aimed at children 3 to 12 but aviators of any age are more than welcome to attend!
