Carers in Hertfordshire
Carers in Hertfordshire is a charity that provides advice, information and support to people who care for a child, partner or other relative, or friend, as they need help due to a physical or mental illness, disability, addiction or other reason. The charity helps carers of all ages living in Hertfordshire or caring for someone in the county, and those whose caring role has ended in the last three years.
Ensuring Hertfordshire's carers are identified, informed, supported, and heard, is at the heart of the charity's work.
Services are provided free and for adults, such as parent carers, include:
Information and guidance: Help with caring queries, planning, and navigating services.
One to one and group support: Through mentoring and Hub groups throughout Hertfordshire and online.
Workshops and events: These can be sessions to support a caring role or that offer time for leisure, creativity, or self-care. Some are offered online and others in venues in Hertfordshire.
Opportunities to have a say: Share your views and experiences and shape health, social care, and community services in Hertfordshire.
A Carers' Passport: An ID card that gives carers (children and adults) access to savings and offers from businesses such as restaurants and shops.
There is also a Young Carers Service providing support for young people aged 18 and under with a caring role and their families. Support includes activities where young carers can get together, have a break from their caring role, and build their skills or knowledge.
The service also enables young carers to share their views and experiences, through surveys and the charity's Young Carers' Council.
