During these difficult times there are several local organisations who can provide support if you need it.  You can also find listed here ways to support these organisations.

The St Albans and District Foodbank can provide emergency food provisions.  You don't have to be on benefits to use this service.  Anyone struggling to buy food is eligible. You will need to be referred by one of their agencies to get a food voucher before attending a session.  You can find more information about how to do this on their website.

If you would like to help the Foodbank they have donation points in Tesco Metro, Waitrose and Co-Op Food (St Albans, London Colney, & Chiswell Green).  You can find more information on their website along with links to make a monetary donation.

Sopwell Community Trust is a BAE charity in St Albans. They can supply food parcels with the help of St Albans and District Foodbank and Herts Fruit & Veg. And they can provide toiletries with the assistance of The Hygiene Bank. These packages will be delivered to doorsteps. If you or anyone you know would benefit from this support, please do get in touch via [email protected].

To aid those struggling with homeschooling they have set up online catch up tutoring sessions, led by qualified teachers from TFF Tutors. If you are facing financial difficulties at this time please contact them to apply for a means tested place. To learn about the lesson timings please email [email protected]

They also have a limited number of devices available to rent for FREE should you have not have received this from your school and they can print documents FREE of charge, as this can be another expensive aspect of home-schooling.

If English is your second language they have Arabic, Polish, Sylheti and Urdu speaking volunteers/teachers available.

The FEED Foodbank is run by Vineyard Church.  Due to current numbers they can only accept new guests by referral.  If you would like to assist them they accept donations through BANKUET, their FEED Fund, or you can drop off food & toiletries at the church Monday-Friday between 10am-3pm.

The Vineyard Church also operate KIT, which aims to help families of young children who find themselves struggling financially.  They can provide children’s clothes & shoes for under 5s, School Uniform for ages 4-18 and baby equipment. At this time they are not accepting any new donations until further notice.

Communities 1st is working in partnership with St Albans District Council and other local organisations to provide support during the COVID-19 outbreak.  If you are in an at-risk group and need help or support you can complete their online form to request help and they will connect you to support from a volunteer in your community.  For more information they can be contacted on 020 8207 5115 or [email protected].
