St Julian's Church has been at the heart of the Cottonmill community since the 1950s, offering a welcoming and flexible space for worship, local groups, meetings and celebrations. It forms one united parish with St Stephen's Church on Watling Street, with the two congregations regularly meeting and working together.

St Stephen's is one of St Albans' three ancient pilgrim churches. Founded in the 10th century, it stands within a peaceful, wildlife-rich churchyard where visitors can pause and enjoy the surroundings. Both churches hold regular services and offer activities for the local community.

Families with preschool children can join the informal Tots & Teddies group at St Julian's on Wednesday mornings, featuring a short service with songs and prayer, followed by a story, toys, activities and refreshments. St Julian's hall is also available to hire for children's parties, meetings, classes and community activities, with kitchen facilities, accessible access, parking and a pleasant grassed area beside the hall. Hall facilities are also available at St Stephen's.
