Luton Hoo Estate - The Walled Garden
THE WALLED GARDEN AT LUTON HOO ESTATE WAS DESIGNED BY CAPABILITY BROWN IN THE LATE 1760.
The Garden changed and evolved under owners and management to match the fashion of horticulture in the 19th and 20th centuries, with each owner leaving their mark on the garden's rich history.
Just over 21 years ago the Walled Garden Project began with a determination that the Walled Garden and its rich history should not be lost. The Project is now largely carried out by an enthusiastic team of volunteer gardeners, researchers and historians who work alongside an open day team, a conservation team, and a dynamic education team - all dedicated volunteers working towards a bright future whilst continuing to reveal a rich history.
Every year the garden opens each week for OPEN WEDNESDAYS from the beginning of May to the end of September. We also run partnership days, a Bug Hunt, Children's summer workshops, Walled Garden outdoor productions and Spring and Autumn Open Days. We also have Open Farm Sunday on the estate i June.
