Four young Athenians run away to the forest where the mischievous Puck causes mayhem by making the two men fall in love with the same girl. Meanwhile a group of local tradesmen make hilarious attempts to rehearse a play which they hope to present at the Duke's wedding, and jealous Oberon, king of the fairies, causes his wife Titania to fall in love with an ass!
Why not join us for High Street Players' 2026 open air production of Shakespeare's hilarious comedy. Bring your family and friends; buy a drink at our bar in Cornelia's café before settling down to enjoy the performance. There's no need to bring your own chairs as we will provide them.
Every outdoor performance is unique as the changing light and weather contribute to the atmosphere. In the event of heavy showers it may be necessary to stop and restart the show. However the performance will not be cancelled unless the weather makes itimpossible to continue. We advise bringing waterproofs (not umbrellas, unless you intend to sit at the back) and something warm as cooler evenings are not unknown in Harpenden - even in July.
