FREE and low cost things to do in January 2025

January is generally a month with awfully cold weather and everybody watching their pennies. So I've collated some FREE and low cost things to do as well as some ideas to keep warm! 

❄️1. Walk Southend Pier for just £1.50 in the winter

❄️2. Just Ride Southend - Opens Tuesday 14th January - £2.50 donation per rider, carers and parents of children riding are free and welcome to ride. 

❄️3. Colchester Zoo have a great deal of £10 per person this January until 14th February (Online offer only)

❄️4. Barleylands Farm Park have 50% off all tickets until 31st January so you can enjoy the farm and the indoor venues and play areas!

❄️5. Join the Cliffs Winter storytime session for just £2 on Saturday 11th Jan. Head to the foyer to take part in the session.

❄️6. Lathcoats Farm have an animal area, tractors and play area which is FREE to customersk. All you need to do is buy a coffee from the Bee Shed Coffee House or pick up something in the Farm Shop.

❄️7. Call of the Wild zoo have a 'kids for a fiver' offer running from 6th Jan - 31st Jan.

❄️8. Maldon Promenade Zoo - The Zoo is open 364 days of the year - The Zoo is open 364 days of the year and they currently have a deal of just £3 a ticket for bookings up until 16th February. OThey also currently have a special offer of 30% off when you buy 2 or more annual passes and £15 entry for 1 with a 5 minute meet and greet with the meerkats. 

❄️9. Stubbers Adventure Centre reopens on 12th January. For just £3 for adults, £4 for 5-15 year olds and FREE for under 5's, you have full access to the Adventure play areas, the woodland discovery trail and sand and paddle beach if you're brave enough!!

❄️10. Join the winter mini reading challenge at Southend Libraries until 20th February. Pop into a library, find yourself a book and sign up online.

Out and about - Whether it's a visit to Hyland's park for a play in their castle themed adventure playground, a local park to feed the ducks or a character trail, we have lots of ideas.

Sport and Leisure - A huge category, packed with crazy golf, trampoline parks, bowling and more!

Museums and places of interest - Why not visit a local museum or library? Or go further afield and visit the Upside down house in Lakeside?

Soft play's - A popular one for the colder months and we have lots of suggestions if you fancy trying somewhere new!

Farms, Zoo's and Wildlife Parks - If the above suggestions are not enough, here is our full list of local attractions

Arts, crafts and hands on activities - If you fancy getting creative, have a browse through our selection of local venues with activities

Cinemas, Theatres and Arts - There's plenty on during January which a choice of local cinemas
