SAVE THE DATE FOR HITCHIN'S ANNUAL CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVAL
🗓️ Friday December 8th - Sunday December 10th
The Hitchin Christmas Tree Festival has been held in Holy Saviour Church , in Radcliffe Rd , every year since 1997 ( except 2020, when Covid made it take to the shop windows around the town.)
That makes 2023 the 27th Festival, and Hitchin probably the longest running Christmas Tree Festival in the country! 😮
Over the weekend of December 8th - 10th, Holy Saviour Church will be filled with around 50 colourful and glittering Christmas Trees, decorated in a huge variety of ways by groups, businesses , schools and families from across the community. Visitors can vote for their favourite tree- not an easy task with such a variety on offer!
🎶 There will be live music with a Christmassy vibe throughout the weekend, performed by local groups and musicians, and delicious homemade lunches, including kid's boxes, and teas will be available in the Festival Café.
🎄 The Festival will open on Friday December 8th at 2.30, with a quiet session until 4.15 for any folks or families who would enjoy the event in a calm and less crowded atmosphere.
🎄 Following on, from 4.30-5.15pm there will be an exciting new feature this year - a special session of Christmas music and singing for children, led by Early Years music specialist, Joana Gil. The afternoon's session will continue until 6.30pm, with live music .
🎄 On Saturday and Sunday the doors open at 11.45, with the official opening and Switch On of lights performed by children from the choirs of 2 of our local participating schools - St Andrews on Saturday & Codicote school on Sunday.
🎄 On Saturday and Sunday the Festival closes at 6pm with a short service of carols, readings and prayers, and the announcement of the "winning" trees.
