Howard Park and Gardens is a vital green space in the heart of Hatfield surrounded by mature trees and with formal gardens around the bowls area. The Park now has updated leisure facilities catering for young and old alike. Play area, Refreshment kiosk, Paddling pool, Large green space for relaxation, picnics or family fun, Public toilets, Varied seating around the Park and Gardens.

Our 250 acres offer a quiet refuge for country picnics and dog walking (visitors are asked to use leads in the park and not to take pets into the gardens). You might catch a glimpse of Red and Sika deer. Children can run loose at the Adventure Playground, search for Geoffrey the Gorilla, hiding at the centre of the Victorian Maze, and enjoy a dinosaur safari with 72 pre-historic creatures grazing amongst the redwoods. Closed during the winter.

The Walled Garden at Luton Hoo Estate was designed by Capability Brown in the late 1760's for John Stuart, 3rd Earl of Bute, noted Botanist and Prime Minister under George III. The Garden changed and evolved under owners and management to match the fashion of horticulture in the 19th and 20th centuries, with each owner leaving their mark on the garden's rich history.

Swings, slide and wooden adventure trim trail, backing on to Marshalls Wood which is a perfect walk in the woods for children who get easily-tired legs! No toilet facilities.

At the heart of the Forest of Marston Vale, the Forest Centre & Millennium Country Park offer a fantastic, natural place to enjoy the great outdoors with 225 hectares of woodlands, wetlands and grasslands. Surrounding our meadow and lakes is over 17km of surfaced paths to make exploring easy for everyone (including bikes, horses and buggies!). There is a cafe, gift shop, bike hire and outdoor playground.

Oxhey Activity Park (open 24/7) includes a skate park (suitable for all ages), café (with toilets with Changing Places services), table tennis tables (bring your own bat & ball), toddler and junior play area and improved walking and cycling routes through the park including disabled access.

The park is free to use and you do not need to book, just turn up!
