Natural play area with zipwire, slide, wooden climbing structure, basket swing and free multi-use, flood-lit Games Area and playing fields that cannot be booked/reserved. There is also an enclosed toddler play area. The entrance is a little tricky to find as the park is tucked away behind houses at the top of Pickford Hill, but there is a car park opposite Fulmore Close by the flats. No toilet facilities.

Rothamsted Park has a country park feel and appearance, with wide open spaces broken up by mature oaks of former hedge lines. There are additional pockets of woodland planting, and the main Avenue is dominated by lines of mature limes on both sides. If you'd like to find out more about the Park as you explore, download a Rothamsted Park leaflet from the link below. This guide not only includes information about the Park's history, biodiversity, playgrounds and other facilities, it also has a useful map and walking route to help you discover the amazing trees. If you fancy a stroll away from the town towards Redbourn the Nickey Line gives you nearly 9 miles of rural paths to run, cycle or walk the dog and children. It is great for beginner or nervous cyclists to avoid the roads. You can join at the new ramp entrance by Highfield Oval on Ambrose Lane or further on near Roundwood Park School on Park Hill. If you're feeling ambitious you can cycle all the way to Hemel Hempstead, but you can take some of the cut-off paths that will bring you into the back of Rothamstead Park.

This playground can be accessed on foot via Hyde View Road, Westfield Place or Beeching Close (off Westfield Road) or from the end of Willoughby Road (off Ox Lane). The site feature a zip wire, two climbing frames, a seesaw and a roundabout along with picnic tables and a fitness trail including monkey bars, a springboard and press-up bars.

The Town Council acquired Woodend open space in 2022 and quickly redeveloped the play park with an exciting new design and play equipment. The play area is aimed at 0-12 year olds and centres around an engaging nature theme that is both fun and educational. Pathways have been considerably improved for accessibility, small football goals installed to encourage younger players and additional picnic benches and sensory planting area complete the space. Visitors will also notice a native wildflower mound which assists biodiversity and helps to prevent children running into the path of the zip wire.
