Official Opening of Elliswick Lawn Tennis Club Extension

Published:

An impressive extension at the Elliswick LTC clubhouse, in Harpenden, was recently officially opened by the The Town Mayor of Harpenden, Councillor David Heritage, and his Consort, Councillor Teresa Heritage.

The function was also attended by Martin Corrie, President of the British Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), Trevor Adamson, President of the Hertfordshire LTA, Jim McGown, the club’s President, and numerous other dignitaries and club members.

The extension has substantially enlarged the clubhouse to include a much larger lounge, additional catering space and office facilities.  The increased space will be very useful forcomfortably hosting tennis-related activities.

Elliswick LTC, in Browning Road, Harpenden is currently enjoying full membership and has seen a very healthy growth in the number of juniors wishing to play.  The club, officially opened in 1924 on land donated by the well-known local Jarvis family, has gone from strength to strength offering its very special friendly and welcoming approach to all.

Eric Rovick, the club’s chairman thanked his committee and volunteers for their assistance in accomplishing such a fine result.

The club boasts seven all weather artificial grass courts, of which two have floodlights.
