If you're looking for a fun day out then Woodside Animal Farm is an excellent choice! Located just outside of Luton in Slip End, this local farm offers an array of activities and attractions that cater to visitors of all ages. My sister in law (Maria from Mum's Guide to Luton) and I often take the kids there as it's definitely a crowd pleaser!
From the moment we arrived, the welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff set the tone for a fantastic day. The farm is home to a diverse collection of animals, from cows, alpacas, cuddly bunnies and baby goats to more exotic creatures like monitor lizards and giant tortoises. The "Hands On" sessions throughout the day are a highlight, allowing visitors to pet and hold the smaller animals such as bunnies or chicks. Most of the animals you can feed on the way round, we bought a huge bag of feed for just £2 at the entrance which lasted us the whole day.
All year round there is an indoor soft play suitable for ages 3-11 year olds, with a secure gated section upstairs for the Under 3s which is great; the baby changing facilities are also located in the ladies toilets up here. There's also tractor rides, crazy golf, a sand pit, a couple of outdoor park areas with swings, climbing frame and slide, an area with bikes, trikes and scooters plus two huge jumping pillows for heaps of fun! In the warmer months there's a mini fun fair, with the carousel and chairoplane running, usually April to October.
The café is located in the Playbarn and it offers a delicious selection of fresh sandwiches, toasties, paninis, and tempting cakes, ensuring that no one goes hungry. There's a great little kids selection where you can pick 5 items (including a sandwich and drink) for just £4.95! The farm shop is another gem, stocked with a variety of goodies and treats, making it easy to pick up a souvenir or a tasty snack to take home.
