Children's activity clubs & classes

MAPA offers a wide range of classes throughout the week for children aged 18 months and upwards. Dance

Mother & Toddler

This class introduces your little one to dancing. It is a music and movement class practising dance skills like running, jumping, hopping, galloping, skipping etc. It is a fun, interactive class with the use of musical instruments and imaginary play.

Ballet

Miss Vanda is a qualified Royal Academy of Dance Ballet Teacher. We offer ballet from Primary to Advanced. The children regularly take exams in the grades whereby an invigilator comes to the school and they are assessed. They then receive their certificates at our prize giving events. Miss Vanda is also a Practical Teaching Supervisor for the RAD, meaning she approves prospective new teachers for the Academy.

Tap

Miss Ema and Miss Carla are both qualified by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. Tap is currently taught from Pre-Primary to Advanced. Like ballet, the children are given the opportunity to take exams and progress throughout the grades.

Modern

Contemporary

Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and body through fluid dance movements. We offer both Junior and Senior classes.

Jazz

The school offers classes in ISTD Examination Jazz at Bronze, Silver & Gold level. ISTD Jszz Classes are offered to Grade 4 Modern students and above.

Commercial

Commercial dance incorporates moves from all genres including jazz, hip hop, breakdance, popping, krumping and street dance. It allows dancers to be free to experiment. We offer both Junior and Senior classes.

Performance

Drama

We have Drama for both Juniors and Seniors where the children are given role play tasks, play drama games and both create or learn scenes from scripts. We feel these lessons enable them to explore their creativity as well as improving their confidence and social ability

LAMDA

LAMDA lessons are available through Miss Lois and support children's skills in both communication and performance. Classes are booked directly with Miss Lois so for availability and rates please email her at [email protected].

Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre lessons are available for both Junior and Senior students. During the lessons they learn well known pieces from popular musicals. This allows them to gain an insight into what it is like to be in a real musical where you need to be able to perform choreography, sing and act all at the same time.

Private Singing

Private singing lessons are available through Miss Tilly and are aimed at students working on their personal technique and building their repertoire in singing for auditions. Tilly can also work on voice and diction delivery. Like LAMDA, these are booked through Miss Tilly, so for availability and rates please contact her directly. Email: [email protected].
