Calling all mini-wildlife explorers...Little Bugs is here! Come and join us for a fun morning of exploration and discovery here on the wonderful nature reserve at the Wildlife Trust Countryside Centre, Ramsey Heights.
This group is for pre-school children and encourages outdoor play and discovery. The aim is to build confidence of being in the outdoors for both children and their adults and to connect with your local nature reserve.
We'll meet on the first Wednesday of the month. Each session covers a different wildlife theme. Enjoy crafts, story time and play in our lovely nature reserve.
Activities may vary and try to be outside so please wear appropriate clothing and footwear. We will serve a drink and fruit snack but please feel free to bring... Read more

Cosmology and Stargazing with Dr Fred Stevenson
Wildlife Trust Countryside Centre

Join us at the Dark Sky designated site of Ramsey Heights Countryside Centre in the heart of the Great Fen for an adults-only evening of cosmology and stargazing delivered by Dr Fred Stevenson (Astronomer at Kielder Observatory). Dr Stevenson obtained a degree in Physics with Astrophysics from the University of Leicester in 1980 followed by a PhD in Cosmology from Durham University in 1986. After further research he has spent the past twenty five years teaching adult education classes in astronomy, physics and mathematics at a variety of venues throughout Northumberland, County Durham and North Yorkshire.
First learn about the scale of the universe - discussing just how big it is and how far away objects are that we see in the night sky. Then Dr Stevenson will discuss Jupiter... Read more

Join us for a guided walk around one of the trails at Woodwalton Fen National Nature Reserve. Discover this exciting site, widely considered the birthplace of modern conservation. This beautiful reserve is internationally important for wildlife and provides a refuge for thousands of species of fen animals and plants, many of which are found nowhere else in the country. It is a National Nature Reserve, a Ramsar site, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a Special Area of Conservation (SAC). Intro to Nature Journaling for Young People (13-25)

Learn to draw inspiration from nature to document your thoughts, feelings and observations in your very own nature journal. Recognised as a form of mindfulness, nature journalling can help overcome eco-anxiety by fully connecting with the outdoors, as well as contributing to scientific research! A great opportunity to spend some time with other young people.
The session will take place at the Ramsey Heights Nature Reserve, and will be led by our Great Fen Trainees.
Although the session will run from 10:00 am - 1:30pm, we welcome anyone who wishes to stay behind to continue journaling and exploring as staff will be on site until 4:00 pm.

Join a circus performer and orchestra Britten Sinfonia in this enchanting family concert featuring an adaptation of the book Leon and the Place Between, written by Angela McAllister and illustrated by Grahame Baker-Smith, with music by Paul Rissmann and animations by Victor Craven.
Wanting to prove to his brothers and sister that magic really exists, Leon volunteers to be in Abdul Kazam's magic show and gets transported to a mysterious world. Filled with rabbits, doves, playing cards and magician's assistants - among other things - if a magician can make it disappear, it will end up in the Place Between!
Suitable for all, and aimed especially at 4-11 year olds.

Join us for lamb bottle feeding this spring. This is a unique and memorable experience for people of all ages.
Commencing from February Half Term 2026.
A total of six people can bottle feed the lambs per session (each has a separate lamb). The price includes Lamb Bottle Feeding for one person only (young children must have one accompanying adult in the pen to help them), please remember to book Farm Day passes for all farm visitors (under two's are free). Farm Day passes include access to the farm, the farm trail and activity book, plus the woodland play area.
What's included
You will get to bottle feed one of our hand reared lambs.
A spacious enclosure where you can sit and spend time feeding and getting to know the lambs.... Read more
