Calling all mini-wildlife explorers...Little Bugs is here! Come and join us for a fun morning of exploration and discovery here on the wonderful nature reserve at the Wildlife Trust Countryside Centre, Ramsey Heights.
This group is for pre-school children and encourages outdoor play and discovery. The aim is to build confidence of being in the outdoors for both children and their adults and to connect with your local nature reserve.
We'll meet on the first Wednesday of the month. Each session covers a different wildlife theme. Enjoy crafts, story time and play in our lovely nature reserve.
Activities may vary and try to be outside so please wear appropriate clothing and footwear. We will serve a drink and fruit snack but please feel free to bring... Read more

Youth Rangers is a group for secondary-aged young people (11-17 years) keen to make a positive difference to their local environment. We meet throughout the year at various Cambridgeshire nature reserves and would love to welcome you to our group.
Join us for another fantastic session of learning real, practical conservation skills from industry professionals and making a positive impact for wildlife. You do not need any experience to attend. This month we'll be at Upwood Meadows NNR joining the Reserve Warden and Wildlife Trust volunteers for the important annual orchid count. Learn how to identify the target species, how to record results and discover the other wildlife that benefits from the floristic diversity of the site.

Join our wildlife day camp for 7-12 year olds. No parents required! Enjoy a day outdoors, learning new skills, making new friends.
This summer we're offering a full day for children to explore and engage in the great outdoors! The day is packed full of activities, games and crafts to help young people connect with the fantastic natural world that surrounds them. We'll introduce survival skills such as selecting and chopping kindling, building and lighting fires, making shelters, tying knots and plant ID. Climb trees, use tools, be creative and have fun!
This day camp will run from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Drop-off and sign in between 9.45-10.00am.
Over the course of the day, children can expect to:

Great Fen Creatures of the Night

Treat the children to a special late night to see how this beautiful nature reserve in Ramsey Heights comes alive after dark.
We will use bat detectors to listen to and identify the local species of bats, set out a moth trap to entice fascinating flying visitors, listen out for calling owls and go scouting for other nocturnal sights and sounds around the reserve.
Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy shoes/boots. It would also be a good idea to bring a torch and insect repellent.
Please note, the level of this event is aimed at families and children, adults should only attend when accompanying a child. (For an adult-focused event take a look at our International Bat Night guided walk.)
