Bancroft Recreation Ground has been providing a place of relaxation and leisure for Hitchin's residents since before the Second World War. The park houses many specimen trees, shrubs and flower beds, and also supports a bowling club, tennis club and during the summer months, a popular Splash Pad.

HBS Sports Centre is a local, community use Sports Centre which is used by Hitchin Boys' School during the day, and available for Community use in the evenings and at weekends. HBS Sports Centre has a 4 Badminton court sports hall, 1 Badminton Court old gymnasium, 2 multipurpose studio rooms as well as Changing and Shower facilities.

Hitchin Rugby Club is a registered Charity whose mission is to participate in and promote the sport of rugby at all age levels within the Hitchin area. This includes Mini (U5-U12), Youth (U13-U18), Seniors (18+), Vets (35+), Ladies and Girls Rugby (U13, U15 and U18) as well as Adult Touch-Rugby. This participation and promotion is accomplished through various means including playing, coaching, refereeing and community development.

Hitchin's town centre 'buccaneer' themed splash park is 160 metres squared and includes features such as interactive water jets, tipping water buckets, a pirate ship and a play stream for younger children.

There's a play area within the park, along with bandstand, lots of grassy space to picnic and sports courts, as well as a new Kiosk selling drinks and snacks.

The centre boasts a 50m heated outdoor pool (open from May to September - check website for exact dates) with sunbathing terrace, and 2 indoor pools: a 25 metre deck level 8 lane indoor heated pool, and an indoor toddler pool. The centre also operates SLL's highly successful AquaEd Swim School, following the ASA's National Plan for Teaching Swimming, and giving adults and children the opportunity to learn to swim in a safe and supportive environment.

Ickleford Squash Club is a friendly, inclusive, and vibrant club serving Ickleford, Hitchin, Letchworth and the surrounding areas. We have two well-maintained, heated, squash courts with a viewing gallery and changing facilities. We are part of the larger Ickleford Sports & Recreation Club which includes football, cricket and petanque sections, and on-site bar for members.
