Wildlife Discovery Day
Chiltern Open Air Museum

Step into nature and explore the Museum's beautiful 45-acre site in the heart of the Chilterns. Packed with family-friendly activities this is your chance to get hands-on with the natural world and learn about the incredible wildlife that lives all around us.
Join Wild Amersham and delve into the colourful world of wildflowers and the buzzing pollinators that depend on them.
Take a guided walk through our vibrant chalk downland meadow. Discover rare species and habitats. Walks start at 11:30am and 3pm-meet at the Wild Amersham gazebo by Northolt Barn.
Join the Bucks Amphibian and Reptile Group at Northolt Pond for pond dipping and meet the fascinating creatures that live beneath the surface. Sessions at 10:30am and 1pm.

Carriage Driving Show

This July Chiltern Open Air Museum will be hosting the Bucks, Beds and Herts British Driving Show where you can see traditional and modern horse drawn carriages in arena parades. This event is perfect for enthusiasts and families alike, offering a glimpse into the elegance and craftsmanship of carriage driving.
You can also see some blacksmith demonstrations in our Victorian forge.
Please note that this event will not go ahead in wet weather.
£13 for adults and £10 for kids if pre-booked

The Classic Vehicle Show is back and it promises to be a weekend filled with nostalgia. Whether you're a car enthusiast, a motorcycle lover, or simply appreciate the beauty of classic vehicles, this event is not to be missed.
The main attraction at the Classic Vehicle Show will be the stunning collection of classic cars and motorcycles. You'll have the opportunity to get up close and personal with these beauties, with owners on hand to share their stories and knowledge. It will be the perfect opportunity to connect with fellow vehicle enthusiasts and share your passion for all things classic.
£16 for Adults and £11 for kids when pre-booked

Heritage Crafts Weekend

Our heritage crafts weekend returns - this time with even more traditional skills to discover.
Step back in time and witness traditional crafts in action. Across the museum we'll be showcasing the work of traditional craftspeople including natural dyeing, flint knapping, felting, lacemaking and spinning. There'll also be live folk music throughout the weekend, adding to the atmosphere of the event.
See a blacksmith at work in our forge, meet the Middlesex Woodturning group, and discover thatching techniques.
Meet a farrier - specialising in the care and shoeing of horses' hooves.
Learn why rope walking may not be what you think and how you don't need to be a wizard to make a besom broom.

Victorian Weekend
Chiltern Open Air Museum

10am to 5pm
A unique opportunity to learn about the less savoury aspects of Victorian life in a fun, family-friendly environment with the 'Ragged Victorians'!
Meet costumed re-enactors in our buildings and around the Museum site. Look out for shady characters including the rat catcher and his rats; street urchins, rogues and vagabonds. This living history event is great for kids who are learning about the Victorians at school. Visit our traditional schoolroom and heritage farmyard. See how the Victorians lived and worked but watch out for pickpockets!

Open Air Museum is a 43-acre site with woodland walks, a traditional farm, and 37 rescued historic buildings. There are special events and activities most weekends, including Vikings, Gladiators and Medieval Knights. Visitors can enjoy lunch or a cream tea in our Furniture Factory Tea Room or a picnic on the Village Green. A good value season ticket is available. Closed over winter.
