Up on Downs (Hertfordshire)
Up on Downs is a charity founded by parents to support families of children and young people with Down's Syndrome in Hertfordshire. Since 2005 we have created opportunities to learn about Down's Syndrome, help progress children's development, make friends, enjoy varied activities and help develop support networks for families. We can provide a wide range of advice and recommendations for resources or support services.
Membership to Up on Downs is free for anyone supporting a child with Down's Syndrome in the Hertfordshire area or in surrounding towns and villages. Membership covers the whole family and is ongoing unless you wish to stop receiving our information. We regularly run family support meetings on the 2nd Saturday of every month (except August and December) at the Hitchin Youth Trust, 111 Walsworth Road, Hitchin, SG4 9SP between 2 - 4pm.
We can also offer regular newsletters, workshops, educational advocacy, and a subsidised speech therapy scheme (available to Up on Downs members only).
New parents/carers meetings can also be arranged if you don't feel ready to meet the group, please email us to request use of this service.
Up on Downs runs a number of social events throughout the year such as family days out to farms, zoos, performances and parties, all made available to our member families.
