ZAREKTrio
Benslow Music
Sat 24th October 2026
7.30pm
Old sounds, new unrest. Set between the Gunpowder Plot and the English Civil War, ZAREKtrio explores the turbulent spirit of the 17th century - a time of great faith, upheaval, dissent and artistic defiance. Their programme opens with fantasia suites by John Coprario, William Lawes and John Jenkins, followed by 'A Pavane for These Sad, Distracted Times' written in 1649 by Thomas Tomkins. Ending the concert, they present consort music in four parts by Matthew Locke and Henry Purcell.
