Welcome! From bumps to teens we have it covered.
This is your one-stop site for everything you need to know about living in Hitchin with children.
Hitchin’s Market Theatre has been entertaining audiences for nearly 30 years, and the Kids Club is a huge part of this wonderful venue in Sun Street.
Winner of the Best Activity Class or Group for School-age Children and runner-up for Best Holiday Club or Class in the Mum's guide to Hitchin 2024 Awards, there's a lot to celebrate!
Classes run on Wednesday evenings, Friday after school and Saturday daytimes, with age groups 5-7, 8-10, 11-13, 14-15 and 16+ catered for. All staff are fully qualified teachers and/or professional actors.
Our youngsters enjoy acting classes, singing, movement, poetry, improvisation, script work, drama games and much more. At the end of every term, there is a show for families and friends, and in July, we present an end of year show at the Priory School in Hitchin.
Unlike most other drama schools, we do not charge for the term up-front. Classes are paid for on a weekly basis.
The Kids Club also run LAMDA classes in the Autumn Term. Jo Croydon-Foster, who runs the venture, is an International LAMDA Examiner & Team Leader.
Come and see us! We are always happy to show people round, and children are welcome to try a class for a week to see if they enjoy it…we’re sure they will!
If you have any questions, please contact Jo Croydon-Foster at the Market Theatre.
We hope to see you soon!

The longest running initiative of its kind, Kids Week has introduced over 2.5 million young people and their families to the magic of live theatre for over 25 years.
How it works:
In addition to free tickets, some shows will run activity sessions or interactive curtain calls, so you can get even more from your theatre trip.
The Kids Week offer includes selected performances between 21 July – 31 August.
Tickets go on sale at 10am on Tuesday 10th June so check out participating shows and get ready to book, as tickets go fast!
The Kids Week offer is available exclusively at OfficialLondonTheatre.com.
Booking will be very busy on the first day particularly for very popular shows and those where less tickets are made available so you may have to be patient and keep trying. We'd recommend planning ahead and having a few shows in mind and several several dates/times. If you're not successful in getting what you want, do keep checking the website, as often new tickets are released.
