Dad's Grow It, Cook It, Share It
Luton Hoo Memorial Park Community Garden
Sat 30th August 2025
11am - 12:30pm
Join the free 'Grow it, Cook it, Share it' sessions, to learn about growing, cooking and shopping for healthy, affordable foods in Luton over the summer holidays.
For dads only and their children, sessions run on Saturday mornings 26 July, 2 Aug, 16 Aug, 30 Aug and 6 Sept, 11am - 12.30pm.
Community and environmental charity Groundwork East are running this course, 'Grow it, Cook it, Share It' which is completely free to attend and will focus on learning more about where our food comes from, what's in season, savvy shopper tips and recipe ideas. It's geared around cooking low-cost, nutritious meals that families can enjoy eating together.
Each week will cover a different topic such as growing herbs and salad on the windowsill, growing from leftovers and preparing and cooking food with young children. There'll be recipes to take home and try, with dishes inspired by Luton's diverse communities. The aim is for the sessions to light a spark with families that growing food and cooking together should be fun, affordable and a time to cherish.
PLEASE NOTE: these sessions are specifically aimed at Dad's and their children. Only reserve 1 ticket per family.
We are pleased to be working with Total Wellbeing Luton on this project, which is being funded by Turning Point. Total Wellbeing will be available during the sessions on the 16th and 30th to offer access to some of their brilliant workshops.
The team from Groundwork leading the courses will highlight how shopping local and reducing food waste is good for our pockets and the planet. Like a lot of the country, food scarcity is a pressing issue for a growing number of people in Luton and many people lack confidence in growing and cooking their own food.
If the event is sold out, please join the waitlist. If families drop out of the course, you will be invited to take their place. Our sessions are in demand - if you are unable to attend a session, please cancel your place by the Wednesday before the session, so that we can offer the place to another family. Please ensure you fill out all of the information on the registration forms, as it is required for us to plan a safe and enjoyable session.
Location: Luton Hoo Memorial Park Community Garden, Tennyson Road, Luton, LU1 3RP.
