Big Wild Sleepout at RSPB The Lodge
RSPB The Lodge
Sat 8th August 2026 - Sun 9th August 2026
Join us for the 2026 Big Wild Sleepout at RSPB The Lodge. A rare opportunity to wild camp and stay over at a nature reserve at the special times of dusk, night and dawn. Make memories and join us for an unforgettable family experience!
We will be camping only 3 minutes away from the main facilities and the Natural Play Area on a flat area of grassland with a shelter belt of trees nearby.
We will meet at 5pm to set up camp. After a welcome briefing there will be a chance to play games or try a nature craft followed by time to enjoy your picnic. We will set up a moth trap. There will then be an opportunity to explore the reserve at dusk with bat detectors, listen for owls and find what might glow in the dark. Following this there will be hot drinks and marshmallows and if the sky is clear some stargazing.
In the morning we will take a look at who slept in the moth trap followed by a light breakfast and an optional short early morning walk around the reserve where we can bug hunt and play a spotting game. Then it will be time to pack down, say goodbye and return the campground to nature.
This event is limited to 42 participants. Price includes all the activities and reserve entrance fee if a non-member. We will contact you via email closer to the time with further information. If you have any allergies or dietary requirements please let us know @[email protected]
For everyone's comfort & enjoyment there is no music, ballgames, personal fires, vaping or smoking allowed.
