Come along and discover the creatures that live in our rivers beneath the surface.
Join us for a hands-on family session exploring the fascinating wildlife of that live in our rivers. With guidance from our staff and volunteers, discover the amazing creatures living underwater.
Kate, our Wilder Communities Officer, and our expert volunteers will be on hand to show you what to do and help identify what you find, and all equipment is provided. This session is a great opportunity to explore nature up close, and learn practical ways you can help protect rivers and wildlife.
Each session will last for approx. 60 minutes including the welcome time and walking too and from the dipping area.
Suitable for children aged 7+, no younger siblings to attend please. All children must be accompanied by a responsible parent/guardian, with at least one adult per two children (we ask no more than 2 adults and 4 children per group booking). We ask that children and adults wear either tall wellies or trainers you don't mind getting wet, no open toed shoes will be permitted. Please bring clothes you don't mind getting a bit wet and a change of shoes, clothes and a towel, incase you get a bit wet.
There are 3 sessions happening during the day, so please make sure you book the correct time.
Herts Rivers Week 2026 is a county-wide celebration of our chalk rivers through events and activities for all ages. It is also a call to action designed to help people understand the value of chalk rivers - and the role we all play in protecting them.
