The Pop Up Farm at M1 Junction 9 describes itself as Hertfordshire's original pumpkin patch and has been growing its own pumpkins since 2017.

The Pumpkin and Squash Festival 2026 runs throughout October and this year marks the farm's 10th pumpkin season.

🎃 When Is the Best Time to Go Pumpkin Picking?

The main pumpkin-picking season in Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas is October, with many farms opening from the beginning of the month and continuing through Halloween.

The October half-term is particularly popular, so weekend and half-term sessions can sell out quickly.

If you have flexibility, visiting earlier in October or on a weekday can mean fewer crowds and, in some cases, a bigger choice of pumpkins.
